    Quell Pain Management Device........

So, my pain management Doc got me a Quell device......you can get them at amazon, BBB and all kinds of places if you look.....they run around $250, some insurances will cover then, some wont & the VA will order you one if your PCP puts you in for one for pain management.

Had a band with 4 electrode sticky pads that fit on the calf of your leg & a control box/battery in a wrap that is one snug product....

Been wearing my for about 2 weeks now, you get therapy a hour on, hour off and can link it to a app on your smart phone.

They say this thing is like a tens unit, Ive had 2 and they did nothing and made things worse....

This thing actually really works....wear it almost all the awake time and take naps with it. Had really helped by feet nephropathy as well as my back, actually tapering off lyrica.

yes it's strange, but it seriously works, makes life a lot easier dealing with....

It works along the same lines as a TENS unit, but geared to the entire body and not a specific area.

You put it on your upper calf, just below the knee. download the app and it will calibrate itself with your help, don't know how it calibrates without the app. Takes a while to tell it's working, I wore it 2 days before noticing any difference...average 6 "therapy" sessions a day I do.

It's said to send electric impulses to the brain to block pain receptors and also send out endorphins to counter the pain....

We were gone over a long weekend and my stupid ass was very active, and when I took it off could tell right the freak now when it came off. Monday could tell when it was on and off. It also has a bypass so you can jump start things and skip the hour down between sessions.

Last night when I took it off, went from a 5 to a 8 in less than 5 min....took muscle relaxers and went to bed & actually slept...

There is nothing I'd like more than to get off all these pain meds. They are half the problem in me trying something else. I haven't drank or done illegal drugs in 25? years but when I did it was full blast. I've been in full blown DT's and drug withdrawel, damn near died coming off alcohol more than once. I am scared to death everyday of loosing my prescription drugs, they may have been given to me by a doctor but not having any one of the three drugs I'm on would put me in a really bad place. I've already started backing off of them but the half lifes are killing me. One of them has a four hour half life another a very large half life. I can stop it and feel ok for a day or two then the pill lets me know quick I screwed up because it's days before my system recovers. Most of these problems I'm sure are from the life I led, I'm paying for it now that's for sure.

The VA is working on a non narcotic policy for pain meds, I've been told that narcotics do nothing for long term pain control, all they do is make you not care and you lie in bed all day like a drug addict stoned and not giving a ****. I've been told by pharmacists the VA has to top giving out pills and the war on opiods proves that they do nothing for chronic pain.

I've had Doctors prescribe Vicodin 10"s only to be told by a pharmacist I'm a drug seeker and they are not going to give me the pain meds....seems pharmacy can tell a doctor what to do now......

Point is, in the socialist medicine world called the VA, your not going to be able to get any pain meds in a year or 2 if at all for emergencies and then very few. It's funny how these people telling me this are young, not hurting and have no idea what they are talking about & when they hurt it's a different thing....they are special......

ANywhoo, the thing works, I can easily tell when it's on and off and my activity level is tied to this from what the wife says.....

I've signed up for the emails, that will keep me aware of my options because I'll forget the name within days. I doubt my obama care will pay for it since they don't even pay for my pain management. Maybe when I go on full retirement? at least I have a plan anyway, thanks Dork.
