Pretty freaking strange.
I am always surprised to see the system of justice in other countries. It makes me appreciate my own. In my town, the homeowner would be getting free beers every time he came into The Brown Bear.

It is illegal to defend yourself in England, carry a screwdriver, butter knife, any tool or implement hat can be used as a weapon. You must be of legal age to buy table knives, kitchen knives and if caught ih one outside the home will go to jail.....

Yes, glad to see that you are able to protect yourself in your own home from armed invaders, even if it was just an "assault" screwdriver. He should have never been arrested to begin with.
