True enough. It could use some soap from his Ma. I don't think that sort of talk does any good. Maybe both sides ought to tone it down a bit.

Not when you start disparaging him for his "slimy fingers" or suggesting that in the good old days, he'd be beaten up for what he says.
So a fist fight to settle differences in our day was nothing. Are you okay with just walking in the door with a gun and blasting people away, as opposed to taking a shot in the nose? Watch what you wish for, sometimes the good old days don't quite seem so bad. People had more respect for each other back then.

Look at the bullying these new punks are doing, how many kids have died from suicide because of it? How many kids back in our day killed themselves because a bully made their lives miserable? Many a bully was taught respect by somebody that taught them a lesson with their fists instead of a weapon.

Speaking of the NRA, were they directly involved in this? Did they purchase the weapon for Cruz? Did they show him how to use it?

WHy are you and others blaming a bunch of people for something not a single NRA ember was a part of? Is that somehow fair?

You want freedoms, yet you seem to have a hard time accepting those freedoms. ON one hand you think it is okay for someone to have their freedom of speech, yet you seem to think a group of people do not have the right to use their freedom of speech to protect their right to bear arms?

You personally made some pretty nast y cracks about the NRA, they have nothing at all to do with any of this, yet you are blaming them. That is BS.

A fist fight back in our day was the same as it is today - using violence to shut someone up. Using fear to get your own way. It is how bullies work. It wasn't about respect, it was fear. Being OK with it happening to this kid shows a lot of anger on your part, Tx, and a willingness to see harm come to others because of that anger.

You are sounding like a thug in the street, Tx.

You need to examine your life. Seriously.

The reason the NRA is brought up is because they have been completely intransigent in addressing this issue. They've been highly successful in creating a "never surrender" atmosphere and used highly charged language (such as suggesting that any attempt at even the most mild gun control measures is the same as completely banning ownership of firearms) to keep their members in a state of fear. You yourself are an example. You've continually brought up the issue of banning all firearms when discussing the Parkland shooting yet no one has seriously proposed this, including the person you are so angry about - David Hogg.

And you are the one advocating silencing your opponents by beating them up behind the gym after school, not me. Seems as if you are the one that can't stand truly free speech. You need fear to help enforce your viewpoint.

Really, in your opinion MY life is the one all messed up? I am not the one shooting up innocent people, nor am I the one marching in protest and raising my fist in the air. My life seems to be just fine and dandy from my perspective. I will just keep on with the way I am living while the "tide pod eating crowd" keeps doing things that get them shot and shooting at each other.

    Sure, we go with that.....

I was trying to point out that, we settled our differences in a little more civil way with a few slugs of the fist, instead of knives being drawn, pipes being swung or guns being fired. Sure there was a little pain but nobody ever died and certainly not a dozen or more innocent bystanders. Cops were not afraid of doing what was right and would have gone in and stopped a shooter back in my town.

Not one single shooter in any of the mass killings over the last decade or two has been some slobbering, NRA flag waving, goose stepper and I do not know why the ignorant keep blaming them. They have not been at one shooting, not one of their members was ever involved in killing innocent victims, ever.

There was however, an NRA instructor, who when he heard rapid gunfire coming from a church, grabbed his AR-15 and went barefooted to where the shots were coming from and killed the man that was murdering a church full of men, women and children!!! Sadly he did not get there earlier so more would have been saved. That private citizen, who happened to be a member of the NRA, single handed, did more than the paid officer at Hogg's school. The same NRA that you and others keep slamming for being the cause of all of the violence.

If you and the Hogg family, want people to take you seriously, then you need to look at the facts and quit with the rhetoric and the far left agenda. Your crowd are the reason why Trump got elected, you refuse to look at the facts, you keep pushing a BS line and you blame the very ones who had nothing at all to do with any shooting, except for being the ones stopping it.

Keep your snide comments coming, you may get a smug grin on your face while typing it, your friends may sit and laugh at the coffee shop while discussing it, but your ideas and the cause of why you think this is happening has nothing to do with a real solution. That means you are part of the problem, Hogg and you are fighting the wrong enemy, you are blaming a bully that is not the right one, yet you persist in your ignorance, all the while poking fun and fingers at everybody else. Until you realize that you are the one with no clothes on, you will continue to be on the wrong side of the argument. Yep, you sound so good, have all the right things to say and seem to find some kind of comfort in calling us a bunch of knuckle dragging drooling fools, yet with all of your bluster and BS, you are still wrong. Peace out.

The idea that using a lesser degree of violence to silence people we don't like is better than killing them misses the point - you are still advocating using violence to shut people up.

Advocating that people only be assaulted and not killed might seem civilized to you but to me, it still looks like a bully using his fists instead of his brain. A person chooses his best weapon, I guess.

You are afraid of a high school kid, Tx? Calling him a bully? I learn more about your fears with every post you make.

Why do you keep pushing the "shutting people up" button? I simply pointed out that you and he are barking up the wrong tree.

Ok Don, where have I ever said I was afraid of anything? You guys crack me up with your twisted ideas. Something in your brains must have a short circuit between the optic nerve and the rational thinking part of the brain. You keep finding words I have never typed nor spoken. That may explain how you fail to understand what I am trying to tell you.

Nope, you called Hogg a bully because he was being mean to the NRA.

Bully: a person who uses strength or power to harm or intimidate those who are weaker.

Don't know about you but I don't see a high school kid as very intimidating. If you do, that's a commentary on your fears, not mine.

And advocating assaulting people who piss us off is an attempt to silence them. Your words, Tx. Not mine.

Who said Joe Biden threatening to take Trump out behind the barn was OK? Not me.

Whataboutism (also known as whataboutery) is a variant of the tu quoque logical fallacy that attempts to discredit an opponent's position by charging them with hypocrisy without directly refuting or disproving their argument,[1][2][3] which is particularly associated with Soviet and Russian propaganda.[4][5][6] When criticisms were leveled at the Soviet Union, the Soviet response would be "What about..." followed by an event in the Western world.[7][8][9]
Interesting to see you using this approach, Tx. Maybe Trump's infatuation with all things Russian has rubbed off on you?

As of right, now more documented PETA members have engaged in mass shootings than NRA members.

And abortion clinics have killed millions more kids than the NRA has, but let's not confuse them with facts.

    I'm against abortion, too, btw.

The issue is the role the NRA plays in the debate, not whether NRA members are shooting up schools or music concerts. NRA members themselves would probably not even think of committing crimes with their weapons. The problem is, the NRA has stood against any type of debate on the issue of gun control, scaring its members to ensure group cohesion. That group cohesion has allowed the creation of what are essentially single issue voters which are a very powerful force at the ballot box. It is also the downfall of the NRA as other segments of society choose not to deal with a group that only stands for "no, not under any circumstances, never an inch". You've seen the beginnings in Deerfield, Illinois. What they've done might not stand the test of legality but it is the beginning of the rest of society marginalizing this very cohesive group.

My concern is this: the NRA, for all its obstinate intransigence, for all its fear mongering, has an absolutely valid point to make - the 2A is not the red-headed stepchild of the Bill of Rights and laying hands on it is just the same as laying hands on the right of a free press or speech or religion or assembly.

If the NRA allows itself to be marginalized, they risk their voice being cut out of the debate. They aren't working toward a solution by saying "no" and people will just bypass them and work with people who want to work on a policy change.
