    Bump Stocks

So, the President just ordered the Attorney General to declare bump stocks illegal.

"Just a few moments ago I signed a memo directing the attorney general to propose regulations that ban all devices that turn legal weapons into machine guns,"
On Friday, a Department of Justice statement said if the rule change is made, bump stocks and similar devices would be "required to surrender, destroy or otherwise render the devices permanently inoperable."
Are we getting ready to pry some cold dead fingers from the bump stocks?

Is this the tyrannical government the 2nd Amendment is written for?

There you go with another half truth, Don. From your own quote, Trump's ordered him to PROPOSE REGULATIONS, not declare illegal.

You are correct. They would not be declared illegal but everyone possessing one would be ordered to "surrender, destroy or otherwise render the devices permanently inoperable". While that is pretty well close to illegal, it only means possessing one is illegal.

Shortly after Trump's tweet, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced that the Justice Department would clarify rules that define bump stocks within the definition of "machine gun" under federal law, a move that would ban the sale of such accessories.
So, is this the "Line too far" for the 2nd Amendment folks?

There are techniques as effective as bump-stocks for rapid fire using just a finger. Should we turn in our fingers or render them inoperable as well?

    Rhetorical questions know no limits.

Ask your President. That is his demand.

He is also the one that said: "take the firearms first and then go to court".

I am always decent but I may ask pointed questions from time to time.

Would you care to comment on President Trump's ordering Attorney General Sessions to take action against bump stocks?

It seems to me that trying to regulate bump stocks is a backhanded way to regulate morality and it cannot be done.

How does a bump stock relate to morality?

It is just a device. The only device that I can think of that regulates morality is a condom.

And to use ya'lls tactic. Are you saying killing is not a moral issue?

So we can't pass laws against killing other people now because we can't regulate morality?

    That's talking like an nihilist.

And if we can regulate bump stocks, there is no logical impediment to regulating magazine capacity.

Other than the Vegas shooting, where else has a bump stock been used in a mass shooting? Personally I do not care about bump stocks, I would not own one simply because I do not care to rattle off multiple rounds of ammo at once. Multiple rounds firing at once does nothing for accuracy at all, that is why it is called spray and pray.

None of the mass shooting at schools, movie theaters or anywhere else but the Vegas one, involved bump stocks. None of them involved fully automatic rifles either. I know of another way to make a gun fire like a bump stock if I so desired, but I have no desire. Take the bump stocks if you want.

Magazine capacity is something else. What will the liberals want next, single shot, breakover guns? How about an axe, no more chopping firewood for those up north?

Stupid arguments for a bunch of fools that have no understanding of how to accomplish their goal. Murder is illegal, no matter if you use a gun, knife or a large pencil, killing another human being is illegal. Putting another law into affect is not going to stop a person who cares nothing about laws to begin with. That is the point.

Stupid people do not think rationally. Using a gun to kill is a choice they make, just like some prefer knives and the last idiot in Austin and in OKC decided a bomb was their weapon of choice. For God;s sake people, it is not the weapon, the person using it is sick. Quit trying to whitewash a problem by using stupid tricks that will not do any good, to put a band aid on the real problem is futile at best.

Do not insult our intelligence by blowing smoke up my caboose, you have no solutions, you only have your own wishes and prejudices against something and found an opportunity to use them. Iy will not change one damn thing.

Yer boy is the one that wants to regulate bump stocks. It is refreshing to see you disagree with him once in a while.

I'm just pointing out that if bump stocks can be regulated, so can other aspects of the platform, such as magazine capacity. Apparently, Trump would agree.
