I think SCOTUS in Heller pretty much has left the door open for a wide variety of government restrictions on “dangerous and unusual” weaponry, and I think banana clips and the like would fit in that category. It was an open invitation for government entities to step in and regulate the hell out of guns.

Heller not only left the door open. The majority opinion stated that such regulation was perfectly legal as long as it did not rise to a given level.

I'm tellin' ya, magazine capacity is going bye bye.

I won’t miss it. Never even had one in my hands.
Weren’t large magazines and scarry looking guns banned before? What happened to that?

The law expired and was not renewed. It had a 10 year sunset provision.

Again, I do not care about the Bump stocks or who banned them. Large magazines I only have one gun that that would directly affect and I am not a mass murderer so it really does not hit close to home for me, though I will not give up any of the large magazines I now own for that particular gun. I will stand for the right of others to own them though.

There is a big difference between making a law and everybody following said law. Look at how well sanctuary cities are following federal law. How about allowing illegals to vote and how they gain lawful entry? So you are telling me that with the published amount of guns that there are spread out nationwide by gun owners we would allow some sort of govt takeover of us the citizens? When the ones who are making the laws become corrupt, we have the Constitutional right to take our Country back.

Think it can't happen? Well let's just say we learned a lot for the way that Hilter, Mussolini and Stalin unarmed their people and then proceeded to enact their own laws. Will not happen here without a bloody fight, one that the politicians will lose. That is not a threat in any way, it is simple fact. Lawful legal gun owners are not the problem, the problem is the looney left and the kids their way of doing things has made them. No respect for human beings or human life has bred a bunch of sissified brats, who, for now, have the media on their side. When chit hits the fan, they will not be up in front of cameras making speeches and protesting. Be careful who you piss off snowflakes, life's lessons can be very eye opening.

The only folks talking about government confiscation of firearms are the NRA nuts. That's the fear tactic they use to control their followers.

Let me know when someone seriously proposes an Australia-type law. Until then, it is just a buncha chest-thumping.

I've seen petitions to force the government to give up info on their experimentation on extra-terrestrials. And how they are hiding Elvis in a safe house in Iowa.

If this is the sort of thing that gets people skeert, no wonder we passed the Patriot Act.

    BOO!

Never knew I had so much influence with you, Tx. You certainly have none with me.

Knee jerk reactionary responses are about what I expected, though.

I'd be careful about accusing anyone else of "rants" when you seem to have the pinball crown for that these days. My posts are a marvel of brevity by comparison.

Now that was an eye opener. It said that people who legally owned assault weapons were to take them out of the State, register them and sell them. I'm guessing it is ok for people who illegally has assault weapons may keep them. What good has that done??

I especially like the one about nationalizing the Twinkie industry.

As disappointed in the NRA as I am Tx, he's about got me convinced to join the NRA also.

I think it is great that I have such influence around here that people are willing to do things to spite me. I mean, why not just do it? Why feel the need to announce it? Unless it is being done out of spite and that's kind of immature, but whatever floats your boat...

    That's talking like an nihilist.
