Now that the child has had his little tantrum and retreated to FL it seems the grown-ups get a chance

    From today's WSJ:
China and the U.S. have quietly started negotiating to improve U.S. access to Chinese markets, after a week filled with harsh words from both sides over Washington’s threat to use tariffs, people with knowledge of the matter said.

Somebody had to get the situation off dead center where China has been screwing us to tears for decades. After they flew a dead ringer of an F-35 over their parades, flashing it in our faces, it was time when their thefts could hardly be ignored any longer.

Slap them in the face and then talk about it. It is what we elected. Get used to it. Read his book.
No more weak sister Obama/Kerry’s doing our negotiating. We will not be loading up airplanes with flats of cash in the dead of night and concealing it at the end of this, I guarantee. This is a big step up.

No matter what caused it or how it was caused, the issue is now being addressed in a serious manner instead of the usual political manner where both sides pee on each others shoes and then both strut around like they actually did something.

I know the wall street folks are kind of happy with the way things are right now. They have had ample time to make their contingency plans and bet money on both sides of the roulette wheel to protect their own interests. Truth be known, I would say that is why they hate Trump so much, he is going to upset their apple cart. They have gotten so good at this game, they use the peoples money and make their "bets" never really caring because most times they have money on red and black numbers as the wheel is spun and the marble dropped.

Nothing like playing the game now not knowing if their old bet is now the safe one. They play it off by saying the consumers will pay for a screw up, when consumers have been paying the price for as long as the game has been going on. The only difference is now the players have no inside info to pad their own pocketbooks.

I wouldn't waste my time reading his book.

As for the method seemingly employed---it isn't "his"---it is practiced a lot in NYC----but that doesn't mean it is the best. Often called good guy bad guy---it is particularly risky when dealing with Asians. If an Asian thinks he has lost face you will get no where until you have created a situation where he can feel as if he has "saved himself". It is far more productive to begin in a neutral position than to be down in a hole. If you feel a need to be a tough guy----do it in private, not with the entire world looking on.

    Just plan stupid and unproductive.

If there is good news here, it is in that the Chinese have him figured out for what he is.

Seems like China blinked....you are stuck in the old ways and the old political games. Trump is a whole new ball game and you can either join the new wagon train or get left in the dust.

Dave, people woke up in the small towns all across America. They have real lives and could not care less about the people who live in big cities and think themselves better than the rest of Americans. Contrary to popular belief Wall Street does not even make the top 20 of things regular folks care about. They worry about what the see and feel on a daily basis, not some goofball halfway across the Country telling them how they should act.

Politicians have lost the heart and soul of America, the normal guys and gals. Those who get up with the sun and work all day in the hot sun or freezing cold, sometimes 7 days a week. They do not give a rip about some fancy dancy paper or TV show putting all sorts of garbage out that has nothing to do with them. They don't pay outrageous rents or mortgages and live 3 hours away from their job and fight crowds everywhere they go. They don't ride trains to work, they may sit on a tractor all day and maybe see a few cars if they are close to the highway.

That is what Hilliary and the Dems have forgotten about, real people, not the classless coasts where people are a bunch of cut throats and liars, vying for some rating on some list. You put your self worth way up high, not many people care about that chart either and grade themselves on a totally different scale. You focus on things that do not matter to these folks, that is why your stories or gripes fall on deaf ears, they simply do not care what you consider a world changing event. It means nothing to them.

James, instead of continually offering up your ridiculus comments all the time you would do well to just pass.

As for your continued assault on city people---or more accurately anyone who does not fit your mirror image of American---that is just plain ignorant and insulting. Those living on either coast, or in cities, or drive cars or any number of other differences are no less equal in this country---just in case you never noticed.

    Grow up.

Dave, you should heed your own advice. That attitude is why Trump is sitting in the White House and Hilliary is not. You might not like it but those are the facts. Both sides of the Country forgot about the real people in the middle. The one making the food people eat, making the things that America uses and the oil that drives the nation. We were labeled as rednecks and second class people by the wall street gangs and the hollyweird elite and we got damn tired of it.

Like it or not the reality is most do not much care about the stock market or what other country's think of us. You feel the need to insult us at every turn and we are not supposed to be insulted?

You have bitched and complained about every single thing that Trump has done. So has the MSM and the hollyweird rubbish, and what has it gotten you? What has turned out so bad in anything that Trump has done? Is the stock market down? Is unemployment up? Are people dying in the streets? What has Trump done that has made America any worse that it was the day before he took office?

I mean jeez, at what point does the whining and complaining stop and you just get on with life? If he screws the pooch, we will all know in about 2 seconds, but attacking the guy for every single thing is petty and really tiring. That is why people are not listening to the hogwash that has been constant and consistent for almost two years. You ranted and raved about Russia Russia Russia and nothing concrete has come of it. When are you on the left going to give it up, you lost.

Speaking of trying to belittle a person, did you read what you just wrote to me personally? In your opinion I make ridiculous comments every time I say something, I am ignorant and insulting and I need to grow up. You directed those comments directly and specifically at me. My earlier post was directed at a whole group of people spread out across the country with an explanation of why I said it.

Maybe I am not the one who has the hate streak.

I read these moves as negotiating tactics rather than a call to a trade war, which, as a consumer rather than a producer, I oppose. My read of Chinese responses is that they take those moves the same way and have opened negotiations.

I take it the same way, as a way to start a negotiation and nothing more. It draws a line in the sand and prompts a response, which in this case was the sitting down and discussing the problems and issues. The normal political tactic was to act like a rooster, strut around while crowing and flapping the feathers. China would watch the show and point and clap and keep doing what they always have been doing.

It is really silly that political strutting was actually going to work against America, yet the clowns all piled into their little car and drove in circles while honking their silly little horn.

Just let it play out, damn hatred has just poisoned everything.

What none of us know is how much the Chinese got in advance from the people conducting the real talks in the background. They may well have been told the baboon is going to screech---just ignore it---he's throwing peanuts to the base.

Just a thought, but could you imagine the backlash if one of us had said that same thing about Obama? We would have been banned forever for being racist.

If they have a background talk, meeting or flea picking going on, it's fine with me. Fix the problem with America maybe getting a better deal out of the trade. That is all it boils down to, American companies and businesses being treated fairly, it not like we are trying to monopolize the world.

Gee, GM builds a plant over there because they sell a whole bunch of those vehicles to the Chinese and in return China wants the blueprints and all of the other technical info about the machining , assembly and technology being used, and then make the same type vehicle and sell it cheaper elsewhere. Meanwhile the vehicle is imported back into the USA at an inflated rate. The American autoworkers did not have a job, American suppliers did not get a job and the Chinese now have our technology. That does not help Americans at all.

The US Treasury must borrow an additional $300 Billion before the end of the week and with the federal revenues dropping due the recent tax cuts the Treasury will have to go to the well again and again with increased borrowing.

China holds more of the US debt than any other country. Right now they hold $1.17 Trillion in US debt and they have started reducing their holdings.

The Federal Reserve has stopped buying US Debt so the costs of borrowing will sharply increase.

China is our mortgage company and they will cover any loses in their revenue due to tariffs with higher interest rates.

Again it will be our grandchildren saddled with this massive debt increase.
