Austin Texas Ground Zero for terrorism

We have terrorism going on in Austin Texas. I know that many resources are being devoted to try and solve this but this is getting to a critical point. It seems we have a very Savvy terrorist in Austin that needs to be taken down immediately. I hope that law enforcement on all levels will pour every resource they have until this terrorist is brought to Justice

Austin is full of crazies. I hope they catch those involved in this real quick and hang them in the town square.

The Goodwill incident doesn't appear to be another bombing incident but a person who dropped a piece of military ordinance with other things they didn't either want to keep or didn't know what it was.

It's real scary how this is all going down and it seems each device get's a little more sophisticated, like the guy is working up to bigger things.

How the victims are unrelated, as many state and fed are in the area and it's still going on.....

If you sit back and analyze what's happening without any feelings and just logic.....it's bad and going to get worse.....

and I really hope and pray I'm wrong.....

the unlawful use of violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims.

So far there has been no connection made to any political aims so it is at the present a serial domestic criminal bomber.

I try to be interesting but until a motive is established it cannot be ruled as terrorism. It may turn out to be that or maybe a hate crime but we have different laws and punishments for each of those types of crimes.

It's terrorism ask the folks who live there they are terrified. If you want to get into statutory interpretation I'm afraid I might run you out of here so let's don't go there

They found that SOB this morning, the police chased him down and the bomber blew himself up in his car. Good riddance to a POS, and he saved the State a bunch of money on a trial and feeding that scumbag until we could kill him. Good police work and kudos to all of the officers involved in his capture and demise.

In another thread it has been discussed how apps can track your movements. Seems that the police searched videos and thought they had something in some videos showing a guy dropping off a package. Checked the cell tower and got a number that was associated with that site at the time the drop off occurred and tracked the guy down. Upon following him, the POS took off from his motel and the rest is history. Thank God the innocent people in that area can now go back to a normal life.

Blame the Greeks for issues with nomenclature.

In the ancient world, language originally was fairly compact. Aramaic, for example, used the word "brother" for all sorts of relationship, from what we would recognize as brother, cousin, son-in-law, clan member, etc. One word to describe many different types of male kinship.

It was the Greeks who insisted on naming things precisely, beginning with different words denoting different types of kinship. We've continued that and have a lot of words that all have the basic meaning but different shadings.

Look at the difference between corruptibility and venal. Both mean a willingness to be induced to do bad things, but venal adds the specific idea of bribery as a specific motivating factor other than a general willingness.

Just a historical side note on language quirkiness.

I think that it is valid to distinguish between crime by someone who is a nut and someone who is trying to achieve a political end. Different words for different types of crime, just like there is a difference between murder and manslaughter.

The distinction is probably a moot point to the people suffering bombs going off in their neighborhoods and scared to walk out their doors so Honda has a valid point as well.

Now that we know (I think) who is responsible, we need to know why because motivation is important. We still have no clue why the Vegas monster murdered so many people or even definitively why Charles Whitman climbed into the tower in Austin more than 50 years ago and murdered so many.
