    Oh Damn

My Boss doesn't play fair. He knew that I did not want the OPS Manager job and have to fly a desk. So he offered me a 25% pay increase in addition to the 8% raise I got a few weeks ago...

    ****

I am now the Operations Manager of Cabulance Comfort (paratransit) and Arcadia Ambulance (BLS Transport Ambulance) with over 30 employees and 15 vehicles to manage plus dealing with local government agencies..

    I may regret this

Quit your bitchin’. You got the title AND the raise. I usually gave just the title.

It is also an excellent way to pay mediocrity. The “usual” is mediocrity, which is another term for the average. If you note, I did not say I chinched on the superlative.

I will offer tentative conga-rats until you make your position known. If all is good. At that time they automatically become real Conga-Rats. If the headaches become overwhelming, then they are rescinded.

At your advanced age you don't have to worry about it becoming a long term PITA. Congrats!

There goes all the fishing and bike riding trips, but you'll have more money to do nothing with.

Like hell it does. I'm leaving next week on a 10 day vacation through the Pacific Northwest. I will not sacrifice my lifestyle for a flipping job.

Sounds like me the boss man knows he's got a really good guy and wants you to hang around. Good qualified help is hard to find. Glad you got flexibility and can still do what you want to do and still have a decent income. I love it. Wish I was in that boat.

I was the first guy he hired to help him start the company. I rode herd on him for the first 5 years to keep him from expanding capital outlays that would exceed income. That's why after 11 years we are still around. We grew slowly enough that we could always pay our bills. I burnt out and stepped out of most management duties for the past 3-4 years. Now he needs me to right the ship again after some bad decisions were made. I don't know if we can fix the ambulance side, I never felt that that was a good decision to start down that path in the first place. The paratransit and insurance company transport side are going strong and that is where we should focus but he has his "Vision" and its his money.... like I said, we shall see
