The 2nd Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America:

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

Militia is the subject of that sentence.

Everyone keeping and bearing arms should be a member of a well-regulated militia.

When that was written and within its meaning, the people, including you & me, were the militia.

Today we consider folks like Adam Lanza, Stephen Paddock, Dylan Roof, Omar Mateen, Nikolas Cruz, and James Holmes also well-regulated militia members.

We seem to be remiss in the well-regulated part.

No they are crazy madmen, part of the very reason the rest of us get to own weapons. The people were granted the right to keep weapons in case the govt was corrupt and was trying to take the rights away from the people, so they could defend themselves.

And also as Waco stated, we were the militia and the people's right to bear arms was not to be infringed, by anybody.

Ahh, so I understand. It is an individual's Constitutional right to defend himself from those government agents trying to take away his rights.

Now, you do understand that person would be trying to kill police officers, federal agents, or since President Bush effectively repealed the Posse Comitatus Act in 2006, US military soldiers.

So Blue Lives Matter and Support The Troops is not one of your positions?

Thus far every person that killed a federal officer or a police officer performing his duty has not exactly been considered a patriot.

You should sue your high school English teacher, Don..."The right of the people to keep and bear Arms" is the subject of the sentence..."Shall not be infringed" is the predicate..."A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State" makes the sentence a complete thought......Ben

So who are the well-regulated militia? Is it everyone possessing weapons? Is it possible to restrict who owns weapons or even what kind of weapons under your definition of the 2nd Amendment?

I think we are getting into that area WacoJoe was referring to where he said that I said anyone should be able to have shoulder-fired missiles if the 2nd was absolute in that definition.

Now that’s the side Don’s mouth I remember. No nuance absolutism born from a severe distrust of the government which abused him in Dallas the day Kennedy was shot. What happened to that guy? Hidden behind the provocateur, I suppose.

I would imagine I am still on the FBI's chitlist. The day I was abused was not the night of Nov 22, 1963 when I was interrogated but in 1974 when they tried to coerce me into participating in a sting operation and attempted to use the 1963 interrogation as leverage. I flew the coup on them, so to speak, and I doubt they have forgiven me to this day.

I have never attempted to purchase a weapon so I have no idea if I am on the FBI's NICS database but I was assured quite a few years back they were no longer actively looking at me.

Why do you want to bring up things that happened over a half century ago Joe?

I had almost put that out of my mind. Now you have me looking over my shoulder again
