Why is it there is no Olympic museum, yes it "should" open in 2020, but ya have the ProRodeo Hall of Fame and Museum of the American Cowboy
We also have the Fallen Firefighters Memorial.

As soon as they finish Pikes Peak Ave so I am not tied up every day while taking my great granddaughter from school (they are now cutting the trees down at the Union Printers Home) they may start on the potholes.

And then the city is going to build a new visitors building on the top of Pikes Peak.

Oh well, the taxes and utilities sure are cheap here.

I wouldn't live anywhere else and believe me, I have lived a lot of other places.

I didn't see any politicizing but then I at no time looked for any, didn't know that Vonn didn't like Trump so shes like half the world. I think maybe if we'd quit looking for it around every corner we might be able to relax and enjoy some of it. To me even the curling was cool. I do agree with phill a lot of it looks the same, they all train together, hundredths of a second determined winners and losers. But there was so much more to it. I put everything out of my mind except the competition, but then it's easy to put things out of my mind now a days.

This is an incredibly conservative city.

The reason for all the potholes is the Tea Party leaders in city government decided to sell all their road maintenance equipment and fire all the city employees and contract the maintenance out to private entity contractors. The costs soared and being unable to pay, the streets deteriorated.

At the same time they cut the public transportation budget as well as police and fire protection. They said we didn't need all those police officers and firefighters. and cut about 50% of the personnel. Now, in all fairness the taxes are really low but recently the police were saying they couldn't answer calls unless it was an active shooting and that Community Service officers and code enforcement officers would be answering all other calls. In cases of thefts or burglary or other non violent crimes the citizens were to fill out their own police report online.

The last place I lived was called the Emerald Coast or Republican Riviera. It had arguably the most corrupt politicians of any place outside of Louisiana. The Sheriff was arrested in Las Vegas because the FBI was afraid to attempt to arrest him in his Florida county. Karl Rove and his soon to be ex wife Darby had a house just down the beach from where I was living at the time and I would see Karl at the courthouse a couple of times and once at the Publix. He seemed to be a nice enough fellow though I never had occasion to speak to him. Somewhere in the dusty old archives on this site is photos of me and Governor Jeb Bush. Being a Republican I was able to get a little access to him and invitations to GW Bush's political rallies. Not being too fond of President Bush from his Governorship in Texas I chose to not attend any of his events. I did not like President Bush at all and that caused me a lot of grief here on this site chock of Bush supporters.

I guess I just like to go places where my being there could make a difference. It hardly ever does but I try.

A few minutes of watching the athletes and a half hour of commercials is why I didn't watch much. The ice skating was the forefront and not something I am fond of. The "hunger Games" goofy hairstyle of the announcer took all of the seriousness out of it for me. How can one take the announcer and dress him like something out of the circus and call it professional? I like the downhill skiing and the bobsled, which includes the luge and skeleton. Too much face time for the announcers and not enough of the actual games, plus way too many commercial breaks and the games were very boring for me.

The talking heads fawning over the NKorea dominatrix was disgusting, so how the political aspect was missed I could not guess. An ice skater, a skier and Vonn made all sorts of political garbage comments so how can one miss that?

True, but to one who said they watched it and didn't see anything like that, made an untrue statement. I did not watch much because of all of the commercials, not the politics.

I remember skiing at Vail one year when they were having a giant ski racing event there. It was interesting to observe that the people there, including myself, would wander over and take a peek, then almost uniformly ski off to the other side of the mountain to have some fun. Watching just could not compete. It was startling though to pull up beside the men’s downhill run and watch them zoom by at 60-70mph and take some air. Hard to fathom. It had a special sound as their clothes rippled in the air at that speed.

What I am trying to say is that even being there rapidly loses one’s interest. Watching on TV is worse, you can’t really get the same impact or visceral feel for the sport. Now curling...that’s a different thrill!

But you have a Adult theater in town and a Pleasures not far from the mall

It's always the tea party or the republicans fault, never ever anybody else.....

Good friend is the father of a Fire Chief & it's not all roses, but not exactly like you spell out....

Public Trans, hell, everybody drives like a wacko on drugs, stupid fast, or stupid slow.....I've never seen so many idiots in one place driving like a bunch of drunks on race day...

If your downtown this coming Sat night and see this car in a handicap parking space minus the yellow things, My old fat/broken retired ass is in Jack Quinn's, I'll buy you the drink of your choice....just look for the old hairy guy with purple hearing aids

So they don't freeze to the windshield.
