On my ride into the city this morning I was listening to the local NYC station for traffic conditions only to find out we have another nor'easter coming in Tuesday night and Wednesday with 6-12" of snow for the city.
As a contrast, this morning was like Utah---it was a perfectly clear day with a few very high clouds. From I-78 I, could clearly see the Delaware River Water Gap through the Blue Mt where I-80 comes through the mountain and crosses the river---40 miles to my north. Normally we have too much humidity to be able to see that far.

I forgot to mention that the tree brought down by Hurricane Ike was 99' as measured by me as it lay on the ground.
The part I dislike most about Spring arrived last week - yellow pollen that covers everything and really messes with my sinuses.

Good morning!
I'm out on Long Island and it was nasty last night going to my hotel but this morning the roads are much improved. The two primary Interstates that I use in my commute from home were both closed overnight with stranded vehicles and I-78 remains closed east bound just west of Newark, NJ. North of the city they got up to 30" of new snow. I checked in with my wife during the day yesterday and then again last evening and all was well at home with no loss of power. She said the snow was very heavy, as it was here, but she had not seen any limbs down before it got dark.
The good news is that we didn't have as much wind with this one---and the next one isn't due until Sunday night into Monday---enough is enough!

There are tens of thousands of people without power----and that includes 4300 that have been out of power since the previous storm last Friday. Those 4300 are in West Chester County--not exactly the hinterlands. Not sure if our friends the Clintons are included in that count.

I'm glad you are OK Dave. It is being a nasty winter on the East coast.
I have only been up here in Colorado for 4 years and have not had anything to compare with that.
How do the folks without power keep all their inside plumbing from freezing?

The ones without power have to get inventive---some with generators, wood stoves and fire places, some use gas stoves--which isn't the safest thing to do----and I'm sure others freeze up
The power companies in and around the city are at best terrible---which is a nice way of saying incompetent. There are 20,000 without power on the island this morning. Lucky for us, I had two outages last night at the hotel but we have power at our plants and we are in full operation.
This kind of weather in the city is terrible. The melt water can't get into the storm drains and so at every street corner you have this 6' + or - strip of slush and water you have to go through next to the curb on both sides of the street---you learn to ignore cold wet shoes and pant legs.

Here we go again--- another nor'easter coming in tonight with 12" tonight and tomorrow---6 days after the last one and third for this month.
