FBI "Discovers" Their Own Documents On Tarmac Meeting — Wants 6 Weeks To Disclose

In a FOIA lawsuit the FBI previously declined to turn over to Judicial Watch "any and all documents in the (FBI's) possession related to the (tarmac meeting) between Bill Clinton and Loretta Lynch" because they said they could not find any. Subsequently, in a separate lawsuit the government referred to documents of such nature. After being apprised of the conflict, the FBI now admits to "discovering" at least 30 pages of such documents but requests the court to grant them 6 weeks to doctor/purge/filter/expunge/black-out/redact/obscure/defenestrate them. The question arises in my mind what could possibly take 6 weeks to prepare those documents for release now that their existence has become known? Were they discussing state secrets or something?

I have disclosed a bazillion documents under court order in my years practicing law, and it never took me more than a day to get them ready, copied & mailed unless I was hiding something (which I often was). What is the FBI hiding, otherwise they should be in the mail?

The petitioners have a right to the raw documents, not what the government deigns to turn over unless there is a national security interest in withholding or redacting certain portions. Embarrassment, which I suspect is the real reason for the lying and delay, is not a legitimate reason to withhold.

    Red flags are waiving.

Why would they need six weeks to review a conversation about golf and grandchildren?

Exactly! Even stupid people are not that slow. It was a 30 minute conversation, how hard could it be?

I doubt there is much direct documentation between the two perps in the conversations unless the airplane was bugged (wouldn't that be a hoot?). I suspect the 30 pages more likely consists of reports on observations of this "chance" meeting meant to be secret on an out-of-way hidey place on an obscure runway extension in Arizona. I also suspect that those reports contain comments from security people to the effect of, "What the hell is our boss doing meeting with the husband of the object of a major investigation???" Remember also that Bill Clinton most likely had Secret Service agents still assigned who file reports. Someone tipped off the local TV reporter who showed up very uninvited. That had to be someone in the party and that someone had to harbor ill will against the perps meeting as they did. That person or persons may have filed reports the swamp wants deep-sixed now.

I saw an article written by the pilot of Loretta's plane. He claimed to have heard the whole conversation and told some of the things that were talked about. Oh! and James Comey was also on the plane with them. If the article had been true the pilot would not have lived long enough to write the article.

Why did it take so long? That's easy. The FBI does nothing quickly. Fast is not in their vocabulary. Getting the FBI to do anything is a lot like getting potholes filled. Hell, getting potholes filled is probably quicker.

Speed was not the issue, Mike. The report was that after the initial FOIA request, the FBI said they had searched their files and attested to the court that they had no documents related to the tarmac meeting. Months later in an unrelated case the Justice Department referred to emails between Justice and the FBI fitting the category. Only after that disclosure did the FBI "discover" the documents in question. It was not that the FBI was dilatory in finding the documents, it was they said they had none until another department of their own agency admitted they did. Was that merely a screw up? I might believe it was unless they want an inordinate time to cough them up providing time for skullduggery. They already acknowledge they have the 30 pages...what takes 6 weeks to copy & send?

After Comey's slimy series of acts, I give them no pass or unearned credence. Now I am just as willing to assume mendacity as incompetence behind their mistakes.
