I think I related my sad story on this issue when the iPhone 6 Plus came out in 2014. My vision is really bad and this was the first large iPhone released, so I convinced myself I had to have one thinking it could substitute for my tablet, which I use to a fault. When I finally got mine after many delays, I found that the top-of-the-line model cost $980 when you put the pencil to the paper after all the "deals" are added up. I bought one anyway, but after having it for a month, I found it not nearly a substitute for my iPad, and I had bought a thousand dollar phone, which is all I used it for. Ouch! I gave it to my wife and took her old phone, which is now three generations old and works OK as a phone, although it is not nearly as good a mere phone as my flip phone from 10 years ago.
