Actually, we're in the throes of relocating to the Canadian Rockies...wanted an insurance package a bit more potent than the 30 06 when stomping around in the back country. Currently leaning to the 338 due to available ammo...

    Polly,
When choosing a new rifle always look at ammo availability and cost. Several years ago a friend of mine bought a .338 to go on an African hunt with. He got to thinking about what if something happened and he needed more ammo for whatever reason. You cannot just go get .338 ammo at a lot of places, especially outside the USA. He said that you can buy 30-06 anywhere so he ask me if I had one. I did, It was a Tikka and he bought it, took it to Africa and made a one shot kill on everything he shot. Not saying one is better than the other just throwing that out there.
Are you relocating up there to live? I've heard it is beautiful. You will probably get along very well with Trudeau, eah.
    Bob
