I finally see Tx's point of view better....

Well not really, but had the last cataract surgery (last Wed). It is helping the vision problem. Never knew white could be so bright again. Like looking at a Mr Clean commercial. Plus can now see the bottom of the eye charts. Dr says in another 3-4 weeks for the last eye to clear up and check for final results. Will probably need reading glasses. Should have done this years ago.

As for Tx's views, I'll leave that for later.

Very good, Fred...I'm in the process of correcting my vision also as Medicare allows...I'm still getting the needle stuck in my right eyeball once a month to reduce the sac of fluid they found inside...When that's all done, they move to the cataract removal...They laser-welded shut the leaking blood vessels a couple of years ago, but I think some new ones have sprung open...

My Mom said that after her cataract removal several years ago, the brightness of everything was so intense, it hurt...But now she can read without glasses...I would do well to find my way to the kitchen without my glasses......Ben

Same here. I'm getting really tired of asking someone what the signs say.

Had both cataracts removed in both eyes several years ago, the new lens they put in make it up to 20/40 for distance.

Well Fred I do hope your recent surgery helps your eyes. I think you inability to see the right viewpoint has more to do with the location of your head and not the eyes in the head.

I had cataract surgery on both eyes about 11-12 years ago. They replaced the lenses with Restor multifocal intraocular lenses. I can see everything well without glasses except the computer screen. I use glasses for that.

Talking to a co worker today at the shop that had it done. He is loving it and highly recommends it to me. I will check into it as I hate wearing glasses.

Do it! I can't remember life without glasses before the new lenses. I was wearing trifocals before the lens replacement. I understand they have even better lenses since I got mine.

Below is an article on a lens, TECNIS Symfony Intraocular lenses, of which I have made note a couple years ago that promises better multi-focus performance. Since I only have one decent performing eye, I have been reluctant to pull the trigger, but I'm thinking about it. I have a bad history with inflammation (Iritis) in my bad eye, which blinded me in it for a couple of years, so surgery is a decided risk.

But then there are even better implants on the horizon — telescopic vision!

Think you should explore the possibility, Tx. It's a completely different feeling. May still need some reading glasses, depending on what they can do.

After you wrote that response, I ran across the article below in which a company is well along the way experimenting already on humans with an eye implant that works as kind of a socket for among other things medical monitors, drug delivery devices, gps maps, & video.

I will, reading glasses would not bother me. My coworker also said if the eye correction was less than 2.5 the price was also cut in half for the procedure. My current prescription is 1,5 in one eye and 1,75 in the other so I may be able to get it done cheap.

The problem for me will be keeping it clean as the oilfield roads I travel and the dust constantly blowing in West Texas may cause some issues with healing.

Well Tx, they did surgeries on Wed and said stay out though Sunday, so plan on a few days off. Also no heavy lifting, or bending over for a few days as well as not getting the eye splashed in the shower. They gave me an eye protector for sleeping. So there would be a few restrictions on what you can do. They recheck the eye the next day and usually a week later. So far the eyes have responded well as I can read the bottom line of the chart, before it was the top somewhat. And both are still cloudy as it takes about 4 weeks for them to really be in focus 100% then you can get readers or other glasses as needed.
