    Metal Storm

I think we may have discussed this weapon before, but just in case, here it is Joe!

Very interesting but the link fails to mention the company is out of business, although the rights to the intellectual property were purchased by another company.

The description in Wikipedia of how it worked is very interesting. Not clear, at least to me, in the video is the propulsion source---it is a material similar to gun powder (or could be gun powder) that is behind the projectile and electronically ignited. One round would be the projectile with a "pellet" of powder behind and a seal behind that to prevent the following rounds from stack firing.
I idly have to wonder how long until the barrels melt down

What kind of magazine would such a weapon have? A-million-rounds-a-minute theoretical capability doesn't mean much if you have a pittance of that in your magazine.

While that thing would be impressive for sure, it would be wholely impractical.

Years ago, I was impressed with a weapon using a similar concept (lots of outgoing), yet more practical to my way of thinking. It was a fully automatic machine pistol, which was chambered for common .22 long rifle ammunition, but held a enormous magazine of them (I forget how many now). The impressive part was how the recoil was so little it could be held on target very effectively, plus the heat could be controlled enough to shoot very long bursts. It was said that the combined effect of holding on target with a very large fusillade of bullets fired could actually eat a hole through a solid wall. At the time, which must have been at least 15 years ago, the American company that invented it was only selling to Israeli authorities, as I recall. I haven't heard any more about it since then.
