Thinking further on the white roof issue: perhaps the answer to why more are not white is because the ones visible would become a stained eyesore over time. We value looks more than function in many cases.

A guy down the street painted his house red (reflective paint ) and has a green tin roof. A real eye sore but luckily I very rarely see it other than if i walk my dog down his street.
Musk finally released the price, which this article says is less than a traditional surface. If that is true, why would anyone go elsewhere? Sounds like the bargain of the century as presented.

If you can only get the job done by a Tesla crew, as stated in the article, I wonder how long it will take for them to gear up for the rush?
If it is all as presented and I were a younger man, I would be rushing to get a position selling and installing these roofs. Why would anyone install a new roof that is just a roof, if you could buy one cheaper that produces electricity and has an infinite warranty? I wonder if the weight requires special structural needs? There has to be a kicker here. My skeptical nature tells me this is too good to be true by leaps & bounds, but I hope it is true.
