Remind Me NOT TO TRY THIS PEPPER!

At first I thought these girls were just putting on the dog for the camera, but they convinced me they could not have been that good as actors.

The pepper is said to be Carolina Reaper Pepper. I never heard of that one before.

The word "reaper" in the name would have been my first clue...I like peppers for the flavor, not the heat...I'll pass on this one......Ben

It isn't a "natural" pepper but a cultivar.

    I have no interest.

Interesting pepper site. I had never heard of those peppers other than the Ghost & Habanero, and I am not interested in trying any of them. A Sereno is as hot as I can handle. It was interesting that the author seemed to think that some of these had a good flavor. I am wondering how anyone could tell after mangling their tastebuds?

I am curious about Dave's seeming aversion to anything not an heirloom plant though. I wonder how he gets enough food to stay alive with a requirement like that?

My aversion is not because it is a cultivar, my aversion is to the heat. While few days go by without my habaneros that is as far as I need go---if I need more heat I simply add more habaneros. I am also not into heat for heats sake---if it does not add to the flavor of food I'm not interested.

This mornings eggs were fried on top of a bed of one large fresh jalapeño plus one large fresh Hungarian hot wax pepper, both diced with seeds left in place and then "top dressed" with my personal mix of habanero, cayenne and Thai Green Chilies, accompanied by fried oysters which were also "top dressed"

Sonic Drive-in has added a summer special slush made with Carolina Reapers!
Saw it advertised at my local Sonic when I was there last week. I passed, as I will continue to do.

That ought to be...refreshing. Let us know, Dave, if Sonic is in your area. They are touted as having a sweet & fruity taste...and then the pain starts!

We once did have a sonic about 12 miles away---but they were closed by "mother sonic" for using beef that did not come from "mother".

A lot of hot peppers have a fruity component to them---habanero being just one.

Lips that touch habaneros and especially Carolina Reapers will never touch mine.

from Daves list I have had 1.2, 7 , and 10. They are all screaming hot. The reaper is effing hot but lacks somewhat in flavor. I like the Scorpions flavor and can tolerate its heat, Ghost pepper is hot but tasty, Habaneros are like fruity candy with lots of heat, I can eat 3-4 at a time
