    Brexit Wins — Markets Roiled

Forced immigration ordered from Brussels gets thumb in eye. Stiff upper lip and all that, you wankers.

It was much more than that. It included the loss of sovereignty to the huge redundant hierarchy of EU governance as well as the taxation.

The EU governing body built an entirely new "governing industry" where none was needed.

This could well be the beginning of the unraveling of the EU----a good idea that is now wagging the dog.

Is it but one of the nodes of discontent with the "political elites" raising its head? If so, what does that portend for our coming election?

I'd rather not think of that

Make no mistake--not because I like Sec Clinton but rather because I believe Mr Trump would be worse than anything we have ever seen.

How could he be worse than the last 8 years of a circus? Not only was Obama and his admin a disaster, he also had the leaders of the House and Senate involved in his corruption and blatant lies. Clinton would be the very worst thing that America could be given.

I have deep concerns, but future SCOTUS appointments sway my vote. The guy is an incorrigible source of idiotic statements. His response being reported about the outcome of Brexit was that the drop in value of the pound would help his (failing) golf resort in Scotland! What a maroon...

Of course the flipside is that HerSelf is the most imminently blackmailable presidential timber in the history of presidents.

This is possibly the most disheartening discussion we have ever embarked on

I was thinking last night that the most positive thing about this political season might be that I haven't seen or heard the irritating voice of Sarah Palin recently.

I guess the Brits are tired of having somebody who does not live there tell them what to do, as well as taxing and making them take refugees they do not want. Sounds like the way people feel about some of the political ploys going on here. Hopefully this will become a good trend.

I never understood the desire to join the EU...Seems like there'd be too much potential for too many riders, and not enough load-carriers......Ben

It started out as a fairly simple concept---open borders, free trade, common currency---and then it began to grow warts.

At the outset I loved it---I used to have a drawer half full of zip lock bags of money--all separated by country. Depending on my itinerary I would pull the needed stash and toss into my suitcase. That for most European trips got me down to three bags, Euro, Swiss Franc and British Pound. The Euro covered Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Austria, Greece, Belgium and the Netherlands.

As time went on it lost the initial value of simplification and replaced it with increasing complexity and restrictiveness. The European Countries have always (in my time there) had an air of "motherhood" about them but as the EU ages they became increasingly paternal---and overreaching. Just one simple example is what they have done with food regulations. It is one thing to regulate food sources in commerce but when it comes to regulating food gathered, grown, foraged, caught etc for your own use---which in many cases threaten the very traditions and heritage of people that have been doing these things for centuries--that crosses a line.

The EU has put themselves squarely in the position of big brother and increasingly the people have felt relegated to "subjects", without power or influence.

...not different than many people are feeling here.

Funny thing is the UK millenials are now bitching about how their future was compromised by the baby Boomers who voted overwhemingly for exit. It's a great civics lesson to them. They had a low turnout, didn't pay attention to politics and now they bitch that they were disenfranhised. hello you did nothing and got what you claim to have not wanted. Next time get off your asses, pay attention and get involved. GO Vote or be contentent when others make decisions for you. Bunch of self entitled little snots.....
