Electronic Can't Miss On Moving Targets To 1400 Yards

Anyone can be a sniper in the new army with these new weapons it would seem. The newest feature is the capability to aim and fire without physical exposure with aide of synced glasses to the firing system almost like a fighter pilot. Available now to our armed services only @$17,000.

The manufacturer claims: "The optic and trigger collaborate to precisely release your shot within 0.5 inches of your designated aim point at 0.57 miles. In comparison: Elite marksmen release shots within 4 inches of an aim point at 0.57 miles. Your shots are 8 times more accurate than those of an elite marksman when you use a TrackingPoint Precision-Guided Firearm and he doesn’t.

...When you pull the guided trigger, if the sight is not perfectly aligned with your tag point, the tracking optic sends a signal to the guided trigger that prevents the launch of the round. As soon as you perfectly intersect your designation point, the guided trigger is released and you finish your trigger pull, launching a perfect shot. The fire control system won’t let misaim, jerk, or jitter affect your shot."

So the next step is to mount something like that on a drone and fight the fight remotely.

The M1400 streams video to TrackingPoint’s ShotGlass™ wearable glasses. The soldier can see the battlefield without putting his head behind the gun, and is completely unexposed and can see and eliminate targets as if he were looking in the scope. Soldiers can shoot over berms and around corners with an extremely high hit rate on moving targets at extreme distances.

Unless I just missed it, the article doesn't say but the model number suggests it's chambered in .338 Lapua...I notice it's equipped with the same Harris bipod S-model I sold many of...

I assumed the same thing about the round and found it strange that it did not specify for what the weapon was chambered in the specs yet gave some info on the load.

Here's another entry in the commercial race to outfit snipers, as best I can tell. Apparently, it is a device that uses your cellphone to both calculate aim and make a video recording of your shot. ISIS will love it. Look for videos soon on YouTube.

A lot is unclear to me here including how the camera feature would account for the recoil.

The idea is not new...I remember seeing some when I was in the biz, and if memory serves, it was ATN that introduced them...The recoil is what triggers the camera...My memory is fuzzy on this one......Ben

There has to be more than I get out of that article---it would seem unless your target is stationary it would be in the next county before you got all the data entered.

Sign me up for evaluation purposes...I have a few test targets in mind......

As for ammunition, it would seem that each integral unit would need to be set for a particular bullet weight, style and load data...It may also be capable of retaining ion memory several different loads......Ben

Back in the dark ages of analog systems, attempted to mate a 30 06 to a 13 inch Dobsonian telescope. Ten penny nail heads on the side of barns at 8 miles were the size of dinner plates at 5 yards. However, could never get it to sync due to a massive parallax problem caused by recoil....

Just wait for high intensity lasers when all those complicating factors of aim such as wind, curvature of the earth and rotation will not be any factor at all. Even parallax can be accounted for with viewing under different wavelengths of light. What you see is what you hit...instantly.

While my hunting is limited to far more mundane targets I still get a kick out of hand rolling my own concoctions, taking my bull barrel with a 22 power Unertile mounted on top for a little walk with my hand held anemometer and turning some little brown critter into a pink cloud at 500 yards

    ...and what about windage compensation?
