Los Zetas gang members escape prison...

    LINK...
Mexican officials said Monday that it appears all of the 44 inmates stabbed and beaten to death at a state prison in northern Mexico on Sunday were members of the same crime syndicate, known as the Gulf Cartel. They were murdered by their arch enemies, members of Los Zetas, a sensationally violent group that appears to have staged the massacre, in part, as a diversion.
In my opinion, animals like these need to be destroyed on sight...They are not part of the human race...The jackals they killed deserved their fate......Ben

We've driven by that prison before. Whores line up waiting to enter the prison at certain hours; it's like a walled city where an inmate with money can live pretty well. It's a wonder that with a lackadaisical visitor system like Mexican prisons use that there aren't more riots.

With all these guys out it just makes Mexico that much more unsafe. Even the resort towns are not safe anymore per a couple travel agents i know. Some Canadian woman has the chit beat out of here in Mazatlan a few weeks ago. Spring breakers are being told places they normally go are ripe for kidnapping. I personally have no desire to go there.....................
Look on the bright side of things...........

We will not have to travel half way around
the world anymore to fight Socialism and Communism.

We can do it right here at home from our front porches
and in the streets of our own nation.

Fight for Liberty will not be a slogan of a noble idea
but a reality of daily life.

Socialism and total Government control are not knocking
at the door anymore, they have walked in, invited by
the huddled masses who are determined to "vote"
    themselves the things they want.

I'd go back tomorrow if I had the time off and the money to pay for fuel. Take any city in United States and compare violent crime rates against Mexico - Chicago, Washington DC, LA, NYC are all much more dangerous than Mexico in my humble opinion.

The difference is an any us city, (Chitcago Excluded) i can carry a firearm and protect myself and my family. It doesn't help that many of the cops in Mexico are crooked. They seem to purpously stop tourists to extort birbes from them. There is no us city that tops Acapulco for deaths, nearly 1,000 in the first eight months of 2011 alone. For me i have no desire to visit anycities anyways and the more remote you get in Mexico the better chance you have to never be seen again. I'll stay here thank you. If i want tropical this looks like it's relaxing and fun!! http://www.soggydollar.com/

I have no desire to go to any of those cities, either.

Better look again before you need to spend big bucks on a lawyer who can't get you out of a mandatory sentence.

To each his own. 38,000 people have been killed in Mexico's drug war. Of that 38,000 less than 200 were Americans, and I'd be willing to bet that many of those Americans killed in Mexico were involved in the drug trade. Pretty good odds, seeing that I am not involved in drug trafficking. http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lapl...res-40000.html
I've been to Mexico often and like the people and the climate. I'll go there again and will have a great time and will return to the US healthy and whole. Mexico has never been a safe place to visit for some Americans, but like everything else, the ones that actually go there and experience reality, make intelligent decisions based upon experience rather than relying on the MSM. Ultimately, the Americans that do dare to travel south of the border are usually better company for me anyway.

I went there in person, and will never go back....

Like I said, to each his own. We started going to Mexico after we had trouble finding campsites in the southwest and Texas; Snowbirds filled every campground. For $10-$14 a night we can get a campsite with water, electric, and sewer and be right on the beach. The same campsite in the US would be $75 a night. Nationals we meet while there are honest, hard working people. Here's a picture from our campsite. The beach is almost always deserted, a sea breeze comes up around 10AM and keeps the air comfortable.

Mexico isn't anything like the border towns and probably isn't much like Cancun or Acapulco either. When our daughter was young we would take her out of school in Maine and enroll her in a school in Mexico for as long as our vacation lasted.

I'm glad you enjoy it, me, I'd be wondering why such a great deal on a great beach is deserted....

I was there last year .... White Bay is very popular with the wealthy Puerto Rican crowd these days. Tons of expensive floating stock in White Bay. It was so crowded we had to moor around the point in front of Foxy's. Too bad Foxy has let his place go downhill so much.. it's a tourist **** hole now. Bitter End / Leverick Bay area of Virgin Gorda continues to be my favorite place to drop the hook in the BVI .

In the past I would agree with Greenie .. I use to say the only place I felt uncomfortable in Mexico was at the borders but the last few times I've been down I've found myself hiding out at the beach house and not venturing in to town as much as we use to. Kinda takes a bit of the fun away to have that uneasy feeling in the gut. A Chica I know that lives in San Felipe says it's still safe in the small coastal villages.

I've stopped visiting friends in Rosarito simply because I will not drive through Tijuana anymore and the drive via Mexicali / Tacate is not worth it .

It's always been deserted except for Easter week when the Nationals flock to the beaches. There are crowded beaches but with the crowds come people selling stuff - an endless parade of men, women, and kids trying to sell trinkets. We go about 80 miles south of Mazatlan - there's not much to do there, and many of the Americans & Canadians stay out of the sun anyway. I like the solitude and the 11 UV strength sun. Unlike many beaches in the US I can drink beer or smoke if I want.
I was like you initially and thought that anyone who went into Mexico was nuts. If someone went into TJ or any other border $hithole and no further they would think that all of Mexico was like that - it isn't. It's unfortunate for Mexico's tourist industry and people there trying to make an honest living.
