How are our Texas friends doing?

Sounds like it is pretty wet down there

I'm fine...My little town had 11 inches of rain in one 24 hour period, nearby there was a reported 16 inches in the same time frame...Since being nearly flooded out a month after moving into this house 24 years ago, a $15K investment in proper drainage has so far prevented that danger for me...Others downstream are wishing they had built elsewhere...

On the tragic side, the family of the lieutenant over the department of Conroe PD where my young tenant works is mourning his loss...I've been privy to a lot more information than was ever reported, about this and out of respect for the family of this fine officer I will never speak of it...I can reveal that while he and his wife were at home, a brief but extremely powerful tornado struck their home in nearby Trinity...In mere seconds the home was completely destroyed...Both were immediately transported to the Level II trauma center at Conroe Regional Hospital (this is where I was taken during Covid) where he received the finest care available...Surgeons and specialists were brought in from nearby hospitals since he could not be moved for any reason from the ICU room to which he was taken...All lifesaving procedures eventually failed, and he succumbed to his injuries...

The family and entire department is in mourning...My tenant, being the trooper she is, continued to do her job for the department, and devoted all her off-hours to doing anything she could for the survivors...Lt. Waller's wife was injured, but is surviving......Ben

Glad you did OK Ben and I will add your Lt Waller and his family to my prayer list.

Have you heard anything from the Captain?

Everything is fine here, just wet. We've only had 4.89" in the last 5 days. But so far this year we've had 40.72". Our average annual rainfall is about 47".

Good news that you aren't flooded but that has to be raising hell with the farmers!

Would this have put you underwater at the last place?

Is the abundance of rainfall going to prompt livestock again?
