Henry Mancini was one of the best. He often used the bass flute in his arrangements, which is a wonderful instrument very seldom heard elsewhere. Loved his stuff.

I had most, if not all, of his albums on vinyl and then replaced them on CD----and now have my third set, a digital collection on the cloud.

In honor of Leonard Cohen, a great song writer, who died today. I could post one of his songs sung by the writer (I posted one earlier), but I have chosen one of my favorites of his sung by another great songwriter, Neil Diamond, because he did it so well on the only album I know of that he sang other people's songs exclusively, as a testimonial - "Rainbow."

Well--that was worth waiting for
Mr. Cohen claimed that song was stolen from him but I am not sure of the details of that claim. It was first recorded by Judy Collins and latter they performed it together.
One of Mr. Cohen's more memorable statements was: "I don’t want to work for pay, but I want to be paid for my work."
