Very nice--- but I will have to wait until I am back in my office to give her a proper audition. I have very good ear buds for my laptop but it they are not the equal of speakers---especially with my failed ear.

As I am working I have Dave Brubeck playing from my Amazon Cloud.
I think if not for my introduction to jazz through Mr Brubeck, I might not have come to be a huge jazz fan since so much of it seems to be disconnected (which in fact it is). That apparent lack of "discipline" might have put me off, but much of Mr Brubeck's music is taken from other genres and rearranged as jazz, which brings order to the result. This album clearly demonstrates that talent.

Dmitri Hvorostovsky, the Russian baritone who died of brain cancer on Nov. 22 at 55, was beloved around the world for passionate performances in Verdi and Tchaikovsky operas and for emotionally direct song recitals. His voice dark and smoky, he sang with elegant relish through long, smooth phrases. He projected nobility and — an old-fashioned word for an old-fashioned talent — virility.
