I'm standing pat. I have listened to Ms Dion sing with both Mr Bocelli, and Josh Groban as well as again with Ms Streisand. There is a depth and resonance to the "professional voices" not present in Ms Dion's. and when she sings along with those other voices hers disappears, in contrast with Ms Streisand's who holds her own.

Here is another that I think demonstrates this lack of depth that I hear. This is Eric Clapton---who I very much like and Luciano Pavarotti who I absolutely marvel at. I left every one of his concerts in awe of the strength of his voice and how seemingly effortlessly he performed---what a master! I would try to breath with him and could not do it---and he was singing while I was simply sitting there!

I guess I should also add that I saw Ms Dion in concert in LV and confess I went away thinking I had just witnessed a love fest but not sure why

Comparing anyone with Pavarotti's instrument is unfair.

...and once again we have a consensus sir!

I feel very lucky to have seen him live as often as I did. My wife is wanting to see Andre Bocelli again this fall and while I do enjoy seeing him as well it just isn't the equal of seeing (and hearing) Pavarotti.

Still one of my favorite duets below...They may have never achieved operatic status, but they had an undeniable chemistry...I read that they met when Lee was pitching songs to Dino, Desi and Billy following the success of a song he had written for the daddy of one of them called "Houston"...The songs he had didn't work for the group, but Daddy thought the daughter of one of his buddies might be able to benefit...

Lee wound up going to see the young lady at her father's house, and it turned out she liked all of them...She had been trying to launch her own career with little success, and after listening to her, Lee suggested she lower her pitch a bit instead of trying to imitate all the higher registers that were so popular with girl singers of the period...With this she was able to seem more relaxed, and after a change of hairstyle and footwear, she had a huge success with her favorite of the songs Lee had brought over...She has said in many interviews that she never gets tired of singing it...

Even her daddy had a hit with another of Lee's songs......Ben

What is this fascination with Nancy Sinatra? She was dreadful...not in the Tommy James "My Baby Does The Hanky Panky" strata of dreadful...but truly dreadful in her own right.

    Some may find this interesting......

The author certainly spent a lot of time putting it together.

Here's a shocker — Kiefer Sutherland can really sing in a voice you have never heard.

    https://youtu.be/7ZiiISy3A7c

Here's another actor who can really sing — Kevin Spacey.

On edit: and then there are singers who could not act a lick —

I found the list compelling. I lost count of the songs I wanted to hear all the way through until 2001 when a string of songs I have never heard and do not want to ever hear again (except the great Adele tune) showed up. Pretty sweet compilation.

Maybe 9/11 changed more than we know or maybe some of us just get stagnant with age.

That's pretty much my take, too. I found the backgrounds interesting as well.
