    What moves you.....

Music has the unique ability to be powerful evocators of emotion and memories.

While people's tastes vary, and some seem to have more ability at appreciate music than others, it is rare that people aren't affected by music.

Performers come and go in today's fast-paced and tuned-in society. But there are some performers whose talent and artistic creativity can always be appreciated.

It also seems we come back to performers from our youth who made a favourable impression on us during our formative years where we made the most meaningfull discoveries about ourselves and the world.

One such enduring group for me was Simon and Garfunkle.

They were gifted in every sense of the meaning of that word. They combined musical talent, poetic lyrics, and production innovation that few performers can come close to achieving from any era.

One hauntingly beautiful performance is the following: - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-IwYQ1Vqf_4

(Let us know when yo figure out who is, and how they did the 'Choir' in the background...)

If you want to play a mix of their many hits just select this: - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYQaD...JDq-Ad2FIMzxJW

    Enjoy.....

I've never had a particular piece of music to stir my emotions, but at many times in life I found music to match my mood...It can ease a troubled soul or stir a lethargic one, so in that respect it could be said to be emotional for me, or at least mood altering...

I also enjoy Simon & Garfunkel...I've listened to them from the mid 60's and really enjoy their close harmonies...Some of my favorite music, or at least most often listened to, is from the R&B legends of the 50's and into the 60's...I had an extensive CD collection which I never recovered from my evil ex-wife and a lot of that is lost to me forever now...

YouTube has given me a chance to sample music that I would never have bothered with before, and I've found a lot which I really enjoy...Recently I rediscovered the Aussie group, The Seekers, with the beautiful voice of Judith Durham...

Thanks for the link, Gary, it took me back a few years......Ben

I is a piano plucker myself ... into ragtime, swingtime and opera, but can't stand 'Rock & Roll' and most of the current pops garbage with untalented guitar bashers and microphone chewing vocalists.

My current live heros are Bolcom & Morris . Bolcom plays a hearty piano, no note-drizzling crap, and mezo-soprano Morris is a balladier excellente !

BTW ... 'Rhapsody' has about every recording anybody ever made ... free 28 plays per month, or subscribe, as I do, for $10/month and compile songlists that will play all day.

The version of "Early Morning Rain" by its composer, Gordon Lightfoot, that you posted is always a treat, but my favorite version will always be this one by Ian & Sylvia...I've been listening to them since they broke into trhe American charts in the early sixties......Ben
