I wish we had had the chance to know her, but we share your loss.

You missed knowing a fine lady then...Mike's luck took a good turn when he met her...

You may have even seen her at some of the earlier Rarfests we used to hold at the RV park in Spring...Or if you ever visited some of the seedier gun stores in the area where she sometimes accompanied prospective clients, as seen in the surveillance photo below......Ben

I've always been surprised at how everyone seems to know of Alison and likes her music that we almost never hear her on the radio. I wonder why that is?

Ali had/has serious physical voice issues in the last few years, and performs rarely now. I believe her 2017 album Windy City was her last album and the only one after her voice issues manifested. It is good, but you can tell her voice is missing a bit of that angelic upper range quality.

I can’t help joining in on any Alison Krause comment thread. I’ve posted this tune on the YouTube music video thread, but am going to post it again because it is my favorite Ali song. Incidentally, the episode the basis of the song is real making it all the more poignant.

I have a difficult time figuring out which is my favorite--it seems to change to the song I am listening to at the moment--she is a true gift

You might find comments that begin at 3:30 on video interesting. There are other comments throughout this video.

Something I did not know — Alison Krause has received more Grammy awards than any other female recording artist (27) and the 2nd most of any person. She is not our secret.

I've posted that somewhere here in the past. Which brings me back to my original question - why do we not hear her on the radio? It is a very rare thing to here her.

I can’t answer your question, Mike, because I no longer listen to music on the radio, so I can’t confirm Ali’s frequency, but my answer above in #52 may help to answer. Radio plays mostly new stuff and Alison is not putting out new stuff or even making appearances because of her voice issues.

I don't know if I ever mentioned it before, but I happen to have an autographed vinyl copy of her last album, Windy City. I'd post a picture but it is packed up for moving.

Hang on to that.... I'll have to admit I have not listened to the radio in many years and am not a huge fan of hers. I respect her vocal skills but the bores me to tears... too much gospel I think but can't put my finger on it...
