She's playing down in Bismarck (more or less) on Sept. 6 and I might just get some tickets but before I spend the dough, I'd like to know if Allison Krauss/Union Station puts on a good show that would be worth $50 or so for the tickets.

I've followed her career for years. She is an absolutely GREAT bluegrass fiddle player , BUT now she is into singing and, frankly, her singing SUCKS! Another weak whispy whiney voiced clone!
She performed on Austin City Limits a week or so ago. The whole show was musically nowhere.

She has the vioce of a angel
Saw her live up here a few years ago, I don't think the girl even needs a microphone.
I've not been to many concerts, but her's was by far the best.
She's all tiny and cute too

Hummmm it's 50/50 so pay you're money & take you're chances
Personally I've never heard of her
Sand Blowers ears are no good..........so that makes me right

Never seen her in concert although I'd like to. She's a different breed then the rest of the "country singers"
There's better singers but she in my opinion is special.
This is your mind on drugs!
I saw her in concert aa couple years ago and Uppy is right, dead-nuts on... The voice of an angel..
Cool--I think I'll be buying the tickets today.
She just released a concert DVD two days ago that is superb. The very qualities SBA dislikes is what I relish - that thin, vulnerable vocal style is very engaging to me. Her band is, to a man, virtuoso (Jerry Douglas has no peers on the dobro), and she shifts from blue grass/traditional to her more modern eclectic style as demonstrated on her great "Forget About It " album.
She also shows her quirky personality on stage that is very appealing. Wish I could go too.
I would think SBA has about worn out his Ethyl Merman vinyl by now.
Yeah ... but I still got my Kate Smith 78's left.Originally posted by wacojoe

Kind of like how TinyPoker has worn out his copy of this:

Ever try to explain a comparison of Kate's version of "God Bless America" to someone who thinks Celine Dion's attempt is great, but has never heard of Kate Smith? We're back to that thin and reedy voice thing.Originally posted by Sandblower Airlines

With a schnoz as big as she's got, you'd figure Celine Dion could get enough air in to sound a little better than she does...Originally posted by wacojoe
