I am more than glad that I didn't do both at the same time. At least I had the left one to push the right one out of the bed
To my surprise my left leg is doing better now than it has in years.
I am confident that my right leg is going to be a great improvement.
My biggest concern is that my new abilities will not live up to my expectations.
I did get the staples out today.

Again.. my replacement isn’t what the advertisement said it would be but it is better than before surgery..

Shoulders.. have a neighbor who had one done and then rushed back to have the other one done.. have a buddy who had one done and says that he will wear the second one in a sling for the rest of his life before he goes through that again..

    Roll of the dice..

Congrats Dave. Take it slowly and rebuild the leg up. Walking even with a walker helps. I did a little into the pain hurting and then backed off that excerise.

When you see the Dr I would get on his schedule for the other one as I would expect he's booked up.

Good advice Fred, he is about 3 months out so my plan is to schedule the next one when I have a follow-up exam in about 3 weeks.

    Looking good

I came home on Saturday using a walker and tossed that on Sunday for a cane. Yesterday I began "home care" provided by Medicare. I had a visiting nurse who will make about three visits and a physical therapist who will be here three times a week for two weeks. Today an occupational therapist will be here, I have to say that is a waste of time---but I play the game.

I can do steps better now than I could before my knee replacement.

I see my PCP today and my surgeon on the 20th---at which time I want to discuss the next knee replacement

The kids were here last night and brought dinner for tonight---life is good

    Sounds great..

I found that “Trekking Poles” (walking sticks) work better than a cane.. sometimes I just need a little balance assistance..

Also.. have a good brand name stick and a pair of the lowest cost sticks on e-bay.. I prefer the cheap ones.. lighter, hold adjustments better and collapse smaller.. only use one at a time..

I'm a long standing (no pun intended) fan of walking sticks

I started using them in Utah on my weekend explorations---I spent a lot of time in remote and often rugged areas and was concerned about falling---to the point that it occasionally kept me from going places I wanted to go. I now have a collection in both active cars and in the barn.

I'm defaulting to the cane for now since it has a "foot" on it and is self standing.

The OT was here this morning and released me in less that 30 minutes----I didn't even need to cook an egg

    Next up---PT

I have an occasionally recurring trick knee that will come out from under me with no warning at all...It hasn't happened again in the last couple of years, but when it does, I can barely hobble without support...For that purpose I keep a walking stick in my truck as well as at home...Both have come in handy on occasion......Ben

Most canes I found were too short for me, hence I like the walking sticks.

    Congrats Dave to the progress.

That sounds a lot better than your initial post-op reports, Dave......Ben

All good Ben----I made a mistake by living with the knee problems. The other night I was not sleeping well because of the post operative pain and even in the midst of that I was thinking I should have done this long ago---and thinking that even at 80 with limited years ahead I have no reservations about doing the second one
