Well, obviously you are unique (which does nothing for pain). Yet, there you are.

I mentioned my knee pain and the nerve ablation I just had done, He said there have been studies about this pain that only about 3% of TKR patients have but he said they really don't know why some have such pain.

Oh well, at least I still have my original blue eyes.
I also have had strange knee pain (in the bionic knee).. not very often, but makes me wonder how metal can hurt and how it tells my nervous system that it hurts..

Congratulations on the 91 years.. can’t offer any advice on what to do with the hip.. in my family, we just don’t do 90s , solves a lot of issues.. (auntie lived to 86 and squed all of our stats)..

Blue eyes.. there is a theory that we received them from Neanderthals ..

I have a diagnosis (but no cure) finally.. have arthritis in my back, pinching my spinal cord.. every day is a surprise.. yesterday my thighs ached.. this morning my shins..

My wife who has a "round house" says that her hips were much less painful and rehab much easier than for her knees

Today was much better than yesterday but just standing up is a challenge and painful. The rehab facility is very nice and takes me back to my roots, it's a Mennonite facility. The people for the most part are great. My daytime aide is a 30ish blonde fox from Belarus

The Pt manager is nurse cracett type but I think we have struck a truce.

I have a long way to recover but I see progress

    It should get better ..

I had PT from Veronika.. Veronika was Slovak and learned her trade in the old Soviet block system.. if I didn’t do an exercise correctly Veronika would climb up on the table with me and “calf wrestle “ me to a correct exercise..

Not to the “sick puppies” in the group.. there was zero good side to Veronika joining me on the table.. zero..

Part I loved is when they have you flat on your back and ask you to lift you leg straight up. As much as I willed it to go up don't think it went anywhere. Later that became one of the bench marks, and bending it backwards.

Progress is slow my friend and be glad for a Nurse Ratched. And as long as your got time might check out "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest".

Ah yes.. the “dead zone” .. mine was knee motion.. as I increased the bending to over 90deg the control the over 90deg motion was “exciting “.. would “dangle” lower leg at over 90deg, and give the leg a command to strengthen out.. and there was no reaction/movement.. leg just hung there.. a little nudge and it woul respond and move, over time and exercise the control came back..

What a pizzer! Finally get the leg to bend enough and the last few degrees of bend do not respond, just hangs there..

I am dealing with this now, no matter how much I look at my foot it goes nowhere

Today didn't end well. The worst knee pain I have had but chemicals have now taken over. Tomorrow is an off day for PT and I am going to push a little less.I still can't raise my right leg off the bed but I can bear weight on it and used the bathroom for the first time today.

    I am glad I didn't go for a double

Gets better, Dave. I assume that they are holding your leg up and pushing it back. All the while muttering to themselves, this guy may not 100 % motion forward or back. Then slowly you can get more in each direction.

As for the pain meds I used them before the exercise started. Then as I could tolerate the exercise cut them in half and finally aspirin.

Congrats on making it to the bathroom. Baby steps.

All this convinces me that I should not have artificial joints of any kind installed...I have no supplemental insurance to carry me beyond whatever Medicare covers, so when that's done I'm booted out whether I can walk unassisted or not...I'll continue to walk slowly in whatever discomfort I have, then I'll crawl......Ben

Hang in there Dave. You have to push through the pain to recover. Dull pain: push it, sharp pain: back off. Don't give up no matter what.

Ben, it is all up to you, how bad you are now and how you want to feel. The shots can be an alternative but they have reduced effect over time.
