A grand idea that could "backfire"

Much criticism has been leveled at the lowly cow for their propensity to pass gas in copious amounts without regard for the impact on our planet. Now we have a major push by the concerned to shift our dietary focus from gas belching bovines to veggies---which actually reprocess that bovin gas, into life giving oxygen.

To that end this guest essay appeared in this morning's NYT:

"How to Make a Nation of Meat Eaters Crave the Humble Bean"

So---despite being a simple man---I have to ask the obvious----does the "gas engine" in this "solution" not simply move from the bovines to the humanoids

From a strictly selfish POV--I'd prefer that "gas engine" be out in the field rather than in me house

Cows have a unique "fermentation" digestive system that breaks down grass - producing lots of methane gas in the process.

Methane, "...is a powerful greenhouse gas, second only to carbon dioxide (CO2) in contributing to climate warming."

Dan, yes. Good memories of members of our flock who migrated to another realm.

Oh---my kind sir---no more so than endless other posts in this elevated roost

In fact, this began with a serious essay from the NYT. The very fact that members can enjoy a serious subject and discuss it with a touch of humor is to be complemented. Life is too full of the mundane to simply ignore such an opportunity to chuckle.

May none of us be so bloated with the after affects of the lowly bean that we fail to find hidden humor in its "unintended gifts".

Man, you had to go there. It triggers memory of a low point, in Blazing Saddles (1974), when Slim Pickins and his ruffians pass colossal amounts of gas while wolfing down beans.

Ah my friend----a guy has not fully enjoyed the manly rewards of deer camp---about a week in---when venting becomes an art form. I had an uncle who could fart dragnet----he was a true champion of artistic venting.

At one deer camp in my past---in the famous Potter County of PA we had one common loft which served as "the" bed room---it held 18 men. No matter how cold it might get the windows on each end of that loft were always open. The venting was seemingly unending with the highest acclaim of the art being rewarded with multiple commentaries in the dark of the night.
