    The cows come home

In an open and startling essay a senior editor at PBS admitted what many of us have been saying all along about mediacorruption and bias.

"Again, politics were blotting out the curiosity and independence that ought to have been driving our work."
    - The Free Press

Yep - we're seeing this too much lately, particularly considering how divisive and partisan our society has become.

Will it matter, or will most Americans shrug and, "Meh?"

I think there are two primary groups:

    1. Those who fail to see their ingrained biases and continue to deny them, thus avoiding confronting them.
    2. Those who work at continually building their biases with full intent to mislead the "formable" in their audience.

Adam Schiff would most certainly be in category 2.

As would be expected NPR has suspended the author of the essay. Seems like they can't handle the truth. The network is totally corrupted.

I occasionally watch PBS News Hour if nothing else is on or am waiting for another show to start..

I am not the brightest bulb on the string and I could have told you that they are biased..

But.. they do have good mystery and police shows.. and even better commercials (“beg-a-thons” excluded)..

I seldom watch any TV news---I read the news from multiple sources---with the margins not in the mix.

But----just because the editorial content is biased does not mean the front page can't be free of spin.

I use TV news for non political news.. accidents on the freeway, six people injured..

I use TV news for political subjects to investigate. Give me something to research from other sources..

Interesting to see how bias is “slipped in” .. our ABC outlet is owned by Sinclair.. they slip in biased segments on the local news that one would assume was from ABC.. but nooooo.. the segment is from the Sinclair “National Desk”..

    On second thought….

IMHO there are two sides to NPR.. one is the newscast on the hour and news webpage. These two news activities may be biased but are still pretty reliable as a news source..

For the other side of the bias coin one must listen to the daytime shows.. the 55 minutes of radio entertainment between news casts is the real, serious slant.. in recent year or two, I have listened less and less.

Was just thinking that many are not familiar with the NPR daytime talk stations (many stations are classical music all day)

NPR is and has been a left-wing Democratic media source. I'm disappointed that you sandman do not classify them in the category that you gleefully declare Fox News.

    I do.. I bang a lot of buttons ..

One difference is that I don’t hear people quoting NPR as fact..

Their basic news on the hour is pretty factual..

Their 55 minutes between news broadcasts can be interesting if it’s a non political subject..

So.. I’m at a nice luncheon.. a car club national meet.. I’m seated at a large table and discussing radio listening, one of my diners asks.. “what do you think of the music segways between segments on an NPR show (Morning Edition or All Things Considered probably).. I answer that I will often use the music as a cue to “bang a button “.. well, the woman asking was the person who picks the music.. was a pretty quiet meal after that.. oh well..
