A preemptive measure to keep away the flood of political refugees that would overcome their southern border when it happens here.
I took a rifle to Canada many years ago, and that was a PITA back then. Canadians have always seemed suspiciously obedient to me. Otherwise, I would feel safer knowing my northern neighbor is defenseless. Now, if the Mexicans could just get American law enforcement to stop sending them across the southern border.:dunce:
The acquiescent compliance of Canadians to government strictures like those in almost every country might be a manifestation of their founding principal that they are ruled by higher beings, while the citizen of the United States are ostensibly taught that our government is a limited but necessary evil and we control it. I emphasize the ostensible part because it looks to me like we are cycling away from our traditional independent spirit and suspicion of government. Ours is a very rare attitude toward being ruled.
The offshoot of it all is that Canadians will not utter even a word of complaint over another loss of control over their lives, but not here. Private ownership and access to arms is what puts teeth in self-rule and the only Amendment listed above it.
Those who think Canadians are in lockstep should probably look at Montreal. My experience is that Canucks are as varied as Americans.
No, I'm not taking a side on this attempt to start an argument about gun rights. Been there, done that.
Carry on (pun intended).

I don't know what you guys are arguing about, but my intent was to mock Canadia and Mexico.
