The new Beast in the stable. It's a 2018 MB AMG GT.
I had a MB AMG SL with the V-12 that I really missed. Per Benz, the new GT is supposed to be what the SL would have evolved into. We shall see.

Oddly enough your thread title is the name I came up with for my replacement ride early this year...But don't worry, Hunter, we'll work out a licensing agreement...And per the picture, your new ride makes you look considerably more youthful...:2funny:...Ben
Good for you---and enjoy every mile
The only real problem with my S550 is that I don't drive it enough
It wasn't all that long ago that driving a MB was one of the more boring endeavors. Now----sot so much! I have to admit a bit of devil comes out in me when I have a chance to embarrass someone. Kids with their $1000 sets of wheels, a $500 exhaust system and a $250 car want to showoff, always win my attention.:cowboy::zoom:
Dave, I drive relatively slower than I used to drive - particularly in the snow and ice. I don't need all the extras on the Benz, but getting them now helps at resale time.
One of the fun features of the new Benz is the special programable exhaust system. You can literally dial in a race mode wherein the exhaust is routed by flaps to a straight-through system. Or, you can defeat all the safety programs (e.g., wheelspin and brakes) to make the car drive like an old muscle car. But, I'll stay away from fiddling with the programs. The car is smarter than me as it is.

Stunning!
Thanks, Joe.

Mine has many of those features as well but I seldom make changes. The 4 matic is good news bad news---it seems impossible to get wheel slippage---when I am offering better manners to the kids :rolleyes2:
The strange thing to me however, is that my Ford Explorer with all the bells and whistles has some things not on the MB----one being the front looking camera which I have come to value when pulling up to something I can't see, like a parking bumper.
The reason I don't get to drive it as much as I like is that I promised myself I would never show up at a customer's in it---that is an image I can do without!
I didn't need none of them silly cutouts! My "daily driver" in HS was a 1953 Chevy pick-up---that is when I had something to drive. At that point it was 8 years old---with lots of dings from being a farm truck----and a generous coating of mud and cow chit :o: But--it was still better than my bicycle. I figured out a way of doing my own modifications---I took the front clamp off the muffler----and then I got a 2x4---just the right length---and I could reach under with that 2x4, get it properly positioned--and push the muffler right off the exhaust pipe.:peace:
When I got close to home---the reversal was almost as easy:pimpgrin:
Necessity is forever the mother of invention...:thinker:...Ben
That's a really beautiful car and engineered at the highest level. Congratulations.
Thank you, Honda.
I've learned the locals think it's odd enough to stand around and stare at. But, I never would have driven such a vehicle while doing government work. It would have gotten me fired. It's nice to reach a point where it no longer matters.

I saw one of those parked way out in a parking lot about a month ago. It was so all by itself and different I had to drive over and take a look. I thought I was gonna get me one of those until I saw the price tag!
Dayum! Enjoy that thing!
I hear you, Mike.
The price was "reasonable." The dealer knocked off $31,000 as the vehicle was a leftover. But, frankly, I bought it due to the sound system installed - a Burmester surround sound system. It goes to show that, inside, I'm still a young boy.
Hunter
Never heard a Burmester, but I would love to. The sound system in my vehicles is of primary concern, and I have bought several Lexus cars with that in mind starting with a 1990 one that had a Nakamichi system in it. Some of my best listening is in the car or truck, when there is time to waste. I bought an Infiniti car once that I really enjoyed, but the sound system sucked, and after dumping $2000 to try to bring it around, I simply had to sell the thing despite the car being fine in every other way.
Apparently I'm different...My idea of a good sound system is a great sounding exhaust...Every high dollar stereo I've ever been shown is played so loud I can't understand the music...I just don't see the point in that...:trio:...Ben
A great sound system is measured best by its subtlety, not how loud it can be. The sound system in EVs against no engine noise is a big reason I look forward to my first such vehicle. I listen to a lot of talk radio however, and the consequent loss of AM in an EV because of the reported static they produce in the AM frequency range would be a serious consideration though.
Those bozos have not been able to hear for years, thus the volume turned off the scale to compensate, which enhances the problem.
Yes, the irony is that listening to loud music damages ear drums, making it more difficult to hear well when old.

Thy are very nice vehicles, test drove one along with a AMG E 63 S and a couple other AMG's & ended up with a Raptor
Went back and looked at the photo in #1 above. You know, that car is absolutely drool-worthy!
Quite a beautiful car! I'd miss my diesel though. I just like a truck, a little better shape than the one I have would be nice but either way a truck is my pick. I can't drive those fast cars anyway I'd probably wreck it first time out. When I want to go fast I grab the bike.
