A brother speaks out.
I think, in general, that the majority of Americans have responded well to Floyd's killing. Though there was some destruction by rioters, it pales in comparison to past occurrences. This will be no comfort to those injured or killed - I'm simply saying it could have been far worse.
It's been interesting (and educating) to see the rest of the world react to this event. All in all, I think we're seeing Floyd's death play a significant role in policing worldwide. I think back to times I was in touchy racial situations that fortunately, turned out well. I'd like to think I would end up as one of the good guys - but also wonder how my indiscretions would play out in current times.

I read somewhere an estimate that the damage caused by the rioters/looters/arsonists run rampant in the Floyd Riots was second only to the Los Angeles Rodney King riots of 1992. I am trying to recall the estimate after a fruitless search, but I think the figure was $400,000,000. The looting may be over; it may not.
Some say these riots may have an even higher economic damage than the LA riots. I don’t know what measure of damages they will use. Will they include future loss from businesses burned out never to return or stores that choose never to return to blighted areas subject to violent outbreaks from the feral denizens they formerly served, or just add up lost merchandise and building materials?
