Don't know how trucks do it but, on my VW Beetle, there is a little [ I call it aa lever ] in the fuel line at the cap. holding that down while pumping the diesel allows me to put two extra gallons in an 11 gal tank. I get a diesel stink finger out of the operation but it allows me to go 600 miles on a tank.
I think I would rather take a bullet that face a commute like the one referenced here.:run::help:
It's not a commute, it's a road trip.
I've never understood the need to fill all the way up to the cap. I stop when the pump clicks off. I fill at half a tank so would never use the last couple gallons I would have by trying to massage the nozzle for the last few drops.
Dave needs his own helicopter to get over the rust belt rot.
Glad it's one stop sign, 3 lights and I'm at the store.
While that's convenient for me, not much shoppers at the mall. May rethink this whole operation after the 1st of the year. Open in a strip mall where they'll drive to see the toys or close the doors. Hate the idea of finding a more local location.
Not much help sir! There are very limited options in Manhattan to land a helicopter. When I worked for Knoll International they would often pick me up near home and fly me to Teterboro AP, NJ where the corporate planes (and helicopters--Bell Rangers) were based. Teterboro is a stone's throw from the George Washington Bridge---and it often took me an hour to get to the headquarters at 655 Madison Ave---a distance of 16 miles.
On Friday afternoons in the summer, I could sit in line at Teterboro for an hour or more to take off. There were days that I could have made it faster if I drove:maybe:
I have now been making this weekly drive for almost 10 years and it isn't a big deal to me--it just comes with the job. As strange as it may sound there are times that I welcome bumper to bumper traffic---there ain't a damn thing I can do to change it and driving at 10 minutes/mile isn't real high stress. If you look at it that way, it is just the way it is:hatoff:
I would have to have a pee bottle.............sounds miserable.
The coming self-driving cars will be a revelation in that environment. Lay back, read, post here & enjoy...
Dayam Dave, I hope you can deduct those tolls at tax time.
