This is reality

Had a really good meeting and training session at Alameda EMS hq today. We trained on and we were given point of woundage kits for every ambulance in the county. These are rapid response kits for Mass shootings. They include. Multiple tournequets, vented occlusal dressings for chest wounds, clotting gauze, dressings. Triage tapes, and rapid transport to safety transport tarps. Cool stuff, too bad society has reached the point where we need this gear.

Yes our responders can use any help provided.

Saw an article on tv about most rural ems and emts are in trouble with having almost not enough dollars to fund the system(s). While we take it for granted that they will be here when we need them, the show pointed out that if they have to make a distance run there's usually no one left to fill in and/or it's the only equipment they have since there's no backup.

Really an eye opener if you want to move to a smaller community.

California is leading the nation in First Responders ability to deal with trauma.

When my Nephew was training for surgery, the Army sent him to California hospitals to learn everything he could about treating gunshot wounds. He's now one of the top trauma surgeons in Seattle.
