They were warned

NBC News is reporting that, contrary to initial statements on Wednesday by the Capitol Police that they had no idea that the protest planned might turn violent, the Capitol Police were warned by both the FBI and the NYPD that violence was being planned.

Makes the resignation of the Chief of the Capitol Police even more understandable. Lots of people knew what was coming. Makes me wonder if it was mere incompetence involved here and not something more.

"Something more" would almost certainly involve Trump.
