Trump's Brief Visit to North Korea

Trump's latest visit with Kim Jong Un impresses me as being just as important, if not more so, as Nixon's visit to China so many years ago. Trump not only unexpectedly walked across the border into North Korea, he extended an invitation to North Korea's leader to visit the White House. :clap:

Everyone here knows by now that I don't like Trump, but he is still better than anything the Democrats have offered. I really hope his relationship with Kim Jong Un can denuclearize North Korea and maybe lead to reunification between North and South.

If true progress (and disarmament) come from this I will gladly give all the kudos to trump---but at this point I have to ask if we are not simply patronizing--and legitimizing a deadly thug who has no intent of changing his ways :dunno:

I hope this meeting between Trump and Un was more than the photo op it appeared to be. And, I have to hand it to Trump for trying to do something about NK, which is a danger to us all.

Like most Americans, I do not like to live with the threat of nuclear war.

You have a valid point Dave. But, if the meeting has even a slim chance of progress, what is the harm. I know many will say it just gives a boost to the fat kid. I think even if that happens, talk, talk is better than bomb, bomb.

Trump does like to BS with every one with some power, so lets let him play what he likes doing.

Deference to a despot is not a good look. It takes someone who basically does not give a s*** what people think of him to make that play. No one else on our landscape would do it. If that is what it takes to turn the corner with this creep, then we have the one guy in the job that could & would do it. If not, then I doubt relations could be worse than when he took the job.

Trump simply does not care about saving face and only wants to make a deal. Every other slimy pol thinks more about his/her appearance than anything else.

Everyone not a fool “adjusts” in the face of events. Trump is not a fool, but those who mistake him for one consistently prove they are, as I was when I cavalierly mocked his original candidacy.

Adjusting is one thing, retreating is another.

Being a limited nuclear power is akin to being a little pregnant.

As hard as it is for some to accept, Trump's meeting with Kim Jong Un seems to be seen as a success by just about every legitimate news source you can find. I have been surprised at the news media and talking head's response to the meeting. The BBC describes North Korea's state news agency as reporting extensively on the visit and calling it as an "amazing visit". That from the news agency that has called the U.S. the number one enemy of North Korea for many years.

Yes, I admire Trump's handling of North Korea. Don't like much else about him, but he seems to be doing well with the despot he once called the "Little Rocket Man". What is more amazing is Kim Jong Un even takes his phone call after that slur. Maybe progress can still be made. :usa:

Could be. Looking at the photo above, he needs to get some stilts instead of the platform shoes.

To hear Tucker Carlson tell it, and he was standing 20 feet away, when Rocket Man walked up to President Trump, the 20 yard walk left the guy wheezing and sweating. The pudgy little creep may be in exceptionally bad health. With any luck he will croak or otherwise assume room temperature.
