....that trump would lie to the American people and probably 30% believed him about the covid virus----all recorded by Bob Woodward----I am shocked.
Oh but it happened our esteemed representative Schiff has said there's another whistleblower. Oh my oh my Woodward and even the moron FBI agent Peter strzok are all showing their selves up right now. Woodward's employed by the Jeff Bezos owned Washington Post. Of course none of these kinds of things were expected at all right before the election and guess what they won't be the last. Stay tuned I have it on good information that Trump actually had the coronavirus made and distributed
Makes perfect sense to me.Quote:
"I wanted to always play it down," Trump told Woodward on March 19, even as he had declared a national emergency over the virus days earlier. "I still like playing it down, because I don't want to create a panic."
Had President Trump been clairvoyant enough to have known that COVID-19 (a name not given the unknown disease at the time) was potentially the most pernicious virus since the Spanish Flu and more virulent than the other recent potential pandemic viruses that petered out, and thus warned “the sky is falling,” what good and useful would have come from it? Know that at that time the mask, wash & distance protocol had never been tried before and remained a theoretical proposal of a 14 year-old school girl from New Mexico in a school science project.
I submit even semi-knowledgeable observers knew the dangers of such diseases and were talking about it on this little website as early as 1/24/20, and none of us here ran for our masks (which the vaunted WHO promptly warned against), distanced and wash profusely.
The only thing to be gained had the President started the panic would have been panic.

I'm sorry gentlemen but I believe that is a failed logic. You can't form and execute an appropriate response when the guy who should be heading that response denies the true scope of the problem.
The claim of causing panic is equally wrong. People who are knowledgeable of a situation and confident that appropriate measures are being taken don't panic.
I see the logic behind “playing down” the threat.. Parents have been protecting their kids that way forever.. I’m sure that he had good intentions..
The problem now is that we have learned more about the disease and how to control it yet we have a segment of society that have not adapted to the newer knowledge and continue to act as if the threat is overblown. That segment has become part of the disease threat.. (and this crosses political lines)
Just my opinion, I could be wrong..
What if “the cure” is worse than the disease...which is going to roll to its natural end whatever you do save for a vaccine?
You can’t say on one hand “Trump denied the true scope of the problem,” and on the other hand complain that he knew and lied about it. The two are mutually exclusive. Pick your blame please.
Btw, no one knew the “true scope of the problem” for months. They were only guessing in the time frame of Woodward’s interviews.
With this plague, blaming anyone other than the Chi-Com’s for not stopping it would be like the Aztecs blaming their priests for not eviscerating enough maidens and rolling their bodies down the steps to stop the drought.
That is a lame argument sir. Based on the recorded interviews with Woodward he both knew about the danger and he lied about it. To draw a bit of analogy, it would be like Churchill telling the British people not to worry---they will run out of bombs shortly.
trump countered the science at every turn and caused confusion in the process. Ask yourself, had trump not dismissed the value of face masks how much different would have been the progression of this disease? The answer to that is painfully obvious.
trump didn't cause this but his profound mismanagement of the response clearly made it worse.
At the point in time of that interview NOBODY knew the true scope of the problem. If I am wrong name me one, just one that did. The Dems have nothing to run on but blame Trump. If they truthfully put out there their true intentions the race would not even be close. Has anybody seen what Biden's tax plan is going to do. If you are willing to look at the true numbers and its effect on the middle class, please do it on an empty stomach.
Point in time he was blaming everyone for the virus. Yet if he knew it was airborne and he should have said so. When masks showed up he still resisted and does to this day.
Some of his followers will drink bleach or shine a light to kill it or others will try something else he's touted.
Should have done the mentioning of it and did the wartime measures to step up production of needed goods. Instead people ripped off everything in the grocery shelves and locked themselves up not knowing what was going on.
As for the protect the kids BS argument people are making just admit he screwed up.
The answer is NOT PAINFULLY OBVIOUS. The virus rolls whatever people do. It can be slowed, but those who are going to get it will get it eventually unless vaccines or herd immunity intervene. (Let’s not talk about Hydroxychloroquine now unless you want to do so.) The usual suspects have told us for months Sweden’s very libertarian approach was a disaster. Guess what...their approach has not changed but the disease is on its last legs there with deaths almost zero. Herd immunity?
I hate to be the bearer of sad news, but without something intervening all of us here will eventually contract the disease under the hide & seek response currently in effect.
You cannot look objectively at the NE and continue in your argument.

Please explain your reasoning...
Compare the statistics between NY and say Texas---while keeping in mind population density. NY got off to a very bad start (and allow me to interject here, had they known more about what they were dealing with it might have been far less traumatic). That ignorance BTW lies right at trump's feet because he apparently knew what they didn't know. In any event, look at the progressions of the cases. Yes---it was bad in NY but they have done a reasonably good job of bringing it under control. If you prefer to look at a more rural state---try Vermont.
I'm reasonably sure that we still have guidelines in effect that are more stringent than most states.
Now I need to go to a Zoom meeting
The true scope of the virus problem was wildly overblown by everyone.
So Trump downplayed it to keep people from a nationwide panic. As it was, we still couldn't find toilet paper or paper towels for months. Many Presidents have downplayed financial crisis' to avoid panic and runs on the bank. Let's remember what everyone else was doing while Trump was downplaying it. Biden was calling Trump Xenophobic for halting travel from China. Pelosi was telling people to go to Chinatown and party. Cuomo was telling NY'ers they were tougher than the virus and should just go about their business as usual, go out and party. Then he sent thousands of infected people into nursing homes to create mass slaughter of the elderly in the homes. Oh, and Fauci, he was out telling people not to wear masks.
So excuse me if I don't get worked up over Trump saying it's about like the flu....
I didn't make them live in the bronx. And I'm tired of people who live there telling me how to live.
Only slightly dated. Deaths in nursing homes now officially stand around 40%.
Joe Biden is non stop attacking President Trump on his responses to the pandemic. What were Joe’s & his crew?
Quote:
THE TIMELINE
Rove reported on Biden’s plan of January 27th, which Biden put in an op-ed. Biden wrote he would give the President authority to declare a pandemic, which he already has and did. Biden said he’s also going to set up a global health service to help people around the world. Rove didn’t think much of that.
*On the 31st, Trump put in the China travel ban and Biden said it was xenophobic and racist. Immediately before, Biden’s advisers said a travel ban is premature and the President should “stop panicking.” On February 6th, Biden’s advisers said it’s not very likely it will be a serious pandemic and in a lethal form, it will be negligible.
*On February 11 and 13, Ron Klain, Biden’s adviser said it’s not serious. We aren’t facing a health epidemic, we’re facing a fear epidemic. It was an attack on the President for raising concerns.
*On the 20th, Biden adviser Zeke Emanuel said this is all an overreaction.
*On the 23rd, Pelosi told everyone to gather in Chinatown.
*On the 29th, Zeke said the masks do not work (that is the day the first American dies from COV).
*On March 12th, the day the President is putting in a ban on Europe, Lisa Monaco, a top adviser to Biden and Biden himself, go out and team up to say the European travel ban is unnecessary. It’s premature.
*Biden said nothing about a lockdown, masks, social distancing, the National Defense Production Act until after the President raised these issues.
This clown Biden is telling everyone if people had listened to him, people wouldn’t be dead, but it is not what he said.

I will go out on the limb and say no one told the other party about the seriousness of the virus. The crap about blaming dems for it is more than stupid. Hell the clown today still can't give it a name.
What is the difference between Trump talking down the virus and Biden/Harris talking down the riots?
All that has been stated above in interesting.. I see the problem as President Trump granting such an interview to Bob Woodward.. the guy who brought Nixon down.. there is no up side to granting such interviews.. I’m baffled by the poor judgement..
Just my opinion, I could be wrong.
I’m a certified nobody and I would not Answer a question from Bob Woodward much less grant an interview..
We're taking it seriously here. And, it's hitting me personally. I have an 83 year old Father and a 81 year old Mother. I'm trying to keep everyone away from them - and failing. For, they both are very social and just can't seem to stop.
They are fine with the possibility of dying. Their children (like me) aren't.
Hunter
I’m OK with the inevitable also, but checking out after weeks in a room hooked up to a respirator drowning in your juices without visitors is not the way to do it.:umno:
Trump gave more hours of one on one with the press briefings that I have ever seen a President do.
One on one yet not conveying anything that was true. Might as well been a puppet show.
Assuming you thinking they were telling everyone the "facts" not the bs that was presented.
Fauci helped build and fund the Wuhan Institute Of Virology, which we have every reason to believe was ultimately responsible for releasing the Wuhan Virus. Why are we following that maroon?
