I sure love those Radial engines. I think they are gorgeous.
Hunter
That has to be the weirdest truck I have ever seen!
I saw it on an episode of Jay Leno's Garage some time back...To say the least it is distinctive......Ben
The sound is...raucous.
I count myself lucky in having many many hours behind and/or next too radial engines. That began with the TWA Constellations in the early 60's and continued on commercial aircraft into the mid-80's on Republic Airlines Convair 240 and its variants. I used to take them from Detroit to the UP of MI and loved the aircraft because of the room and comfort. They all dated from the 50's (I always checked the date on the plate in the door jamb as I got on).
But---of all---the most pleasant memories are the hours spent just behind the engine and the harmonic drones of de Havilland Beavers, beginning in the early 60's in the Army and still flying in Alaska by many bush pilots.
