With no hurricanes in the gulf but the phone just buzzed and my place is in the bulls eye of a small forecast to be hurricane. Warnings have been posted. At this point I don't think I will do anything but I am hoping t stays small.

On the bright side ,you don't have to wash the car or water the plants this week....
Well that is a nice page Mike and TG I don't live down there but I have a place down in south AL on the beach. The place can take a small hurricane no problem, it's just food in the fridge and crap like that I will have to deal with. I hope it does not go over 100 mph, it is not forecast to. Looks like I am going to be on the "bad" side of it if it stays as forecast.
The East side is the "dirty side" that gets the brunt of the wind and water. Good luck, Tom, I hope it doesn't cause too much damage.
Well thank you but it'll be nothing like what you had to endure down in Houston
Back in the '80s I went through a couple while sitting in a patrol car. That was an interesting experience. Harvey was the first time I've been able to stay with my family. That too was interesting. :AHHH:
2010 I was on an engine in a particularly nasty winter storm up on the mountain. The winds hit 105 mph with freezing cold rain. I had one gust pick me up and toss me through the air like a rag doll. 150' tall Douglas Fir trees blew over. Oak trees split in half. Absolutely insane for 12 hours.
Sometimes Mother Nature is a bitch.
Well the closer this gets and the more they refine the forecast it's not giving me any more comfort that where I have a place is going to skate by this. I know the structure of the building will clearly handle this storm it's more the residual effects that could cause problems. I don't have time to get down there since this storm seemingly popped up out of nowhere so I guess that's what's the insurance for. I'm hoping for the best and preparing for the worst. But by no means am I claiming or saying that this is going to be any kind of major disaster. I just think it's going to be a huge nuisance and I hope nobody gets hurt
