That Candy Ass SecNav would not have survived Basic. He is an effing no class jackarse
Acting Sec. of the Navy Modly must be one of the most tone-deaf bureaucrats in history on top of being historically ignorant. Is he totally unaware of what happened to Gen. George Patten - the most effective American General in WWII - when he slapped a lowly soldier? Now this guy figurative slaps a highly popular leader on the day after it is announced the captain is infected with the same scourge he was warning against. It no longer makes any difference that he and the navy had a good case - even a necessity to maintain discipline - for canning a captain who intentionally leaked an internal communication that divulged a compromising weakness to God, the public and our enemies - an unforgivable sin in the military - without so much as walking down the corridor to his superior’s command suite, the admiral of his fleet, and voicing his requests. Now, no matter what good auspices he and the Navy might have for removing Capt. Crozier, the public is against good military chain of command order. Talk about naive & stupid...and destructive.
Modly needs to be fired---jackass is too kind :redmad:
It was good to see the Secretary of The Navy appologize:
Acting Navy secretary apologizes for calling fired captain 'naïve' and 'stupid'

And, the President may intervene:

Too little too late pal---there is the door :redmad:
I do hope that trump reviews this and does what is right for the crew, the Navy and the country and sends this jerk packing.
I read comments yesterday attributed to this "speech" on board that came from the families of crew members---I did not repeat any of them here since they were all hearsay---but that does not mean I think they were all fabricated. Those comments were reprehensible using language that should never come out of the mouth of someone in this position---albeit temporary!
Modly didn't apologize - he was ordered to apologize by the Secretary of Defense. That's not an apology in my book.
Dave, you can hear the entire speech HERE. You have to scroll down the page to get to the video.
Thank you Mike---I will admit not listening to it in it's entirety.
That is the most unprofessional thing I have heard come out of a manger's mouth in a long long time! That is the kindest thing I can say about it :redmad:
If I were the Secretary of Defense there would be no need to wait for trump to make a move---it would be over---now :redmad:
One item that “jumped out” to me was that the Skippers boss, the Admiral down the passageway, was not included in “the” email. To have played the Navy political game required to attain Captain and a major command (at sea).. the exclusion was not just an oversight.. there is “history “ between these two that we are not privee to..
Just my opinion, I could be wrong..
Until now, I was unaware that there was an admiral on board. That changes things for me, but it does not change the way Modly has handled the incident.
Agree... and my source for Admiral (Skippers boss) on board is WacoJoe.. but, I read in a news report that the group CO was not on “the” email..
On edit.. found in a news article
“ But the next day, Modly said that Crozier had shown “poor judgment” by sending his letter through email which was not secure to up to 30 people, and that his immediate superior on the ship was not among them.”. Vox..
SOURCEQuote:
The problem with Crozier’s letter, according to Modly, is that he never informed his direct boss—Carrier Strike Group Commander Rear Admiral Stuart Baker, who was aboard the Roosevelt and “right down the passageway from him”—that he was going to send it. The letter "was sent outside the chain of command, at the same time the rest of the Navy was fully responding," Modly said.
To clarify, that was RAdm. Stewart P. Baker, commander of Carrier Strike Group Nine, a unit of Third Fleet, consisting of not only the Big Stick (CVN-71) but also its accompanying guided missile cruisers, Destoyer Squadron 23, Carrier Air Wing 17 and at least one nuclear attack submarine plus the auxilaries needed to fuel and service the group and the screen of warships for that auxiliary group....Capt. Crozier was in command of one ship, The USS Theodore Roosevelt, which was also the flagship of Adm. Baker...The Big Stick's operational abilities in support of the task group's mission were Capt. Crozier's primary responsibility...Adm. Baker was responsible for the execution of the Task Group's mission and could have flown his flag on any ship in the group...The TR was his choice, but the ship's officers and crew took their orders from Capt. Crozier...If any of that is unclear or misleading, I hope Sandman will clarify and correct...:2cents:...Ben
