I don't think the media caused it. The nanny state did.
Guess I'm one of those weird people after living 82 miles one way to shopping you learned to make lists and have a mini warehouse to cut down on all day trips to shop. I used to make my shopping lists in Excel but now I use notes on my iPhone. :) It was getting better when I went to Phoenix on Wednesday. Walmart had water, even had Dasani water but limited to one case and two gallon jugs. Two roll packs of Bounty and they had toilet paper but I wasn't buying. The meat case was still crazy, I didn't bring a cooler so only got hot dogs and Kielbasa. Kinda hit and miss on brands but they did have something. Fry's had house brand water and a sign about being courteous. When I went to check out there was 5 or 6 pallets of water along the front windows.
I've been to the grocery store five times since this started, mostly I walk in then walk back out. I just want my TV dinners or whatever they are called these days. I've not found even one of the kind I like and I haven't run out of anything else I'm always semi stocked up because I don't like all the pushy pricks or their screaming kids while there and the tailgaters and traffic light runners while going there or on the way home, people suck, greedy self-righteous me, me, me, me and the hell with everyone else!
Blue, your trips to the store sound like mine. People think I'm an idiot because I can't seem to make it down the aisle without looking at my phone.
I use the Notes list on my iPhone too, but have the nasty habit of forgetting the phone after putting groceries in the truck, which I place in the handy little rack on the shopping cart. I’ve done that 4 or 5 times, but luckily someone has always turned it in to lost & found. Hate being the stupid old fool retrieving it, but there ya go. Finally decided to fetch it from my pocket instead each time I need to look at the list, which is alarmingly frequently because I can only remember 3-4 items a time now.
Regarding the TP shortage, here is a solution---one that has been around longer than I can remember but deserves to be brought back in vogue.

As Amos, or was it Andy, once said, “I is regusted!”
Hey---not all of us are as uppity as Bo with one of those auto washers!
The proper term is “Bum Flusher,” and in Bo’s case, “Turbo Bum Flusher.”
I see---obviously I am not in that crowd---thus do not have a handle on the correct terminology :dunno:
I could tell a story here---but think I'll wait until after lunch
Here we go!
Many years ago in a far off land I spent a lot of time away from the normal haunts of my GI buddies. On this occasion I was far off the normal trail and found myself in a tea room after dark had set in---but before curfew cut the night short. I had a call to nature and was directed out back to a small shack---without aid of even a tiny light bulb, it was just me and my trusty Zippo. As I squatted over the target I thought I heard noises below---but thought how silly of me. Then, as things progressed I felt something cold and wet on my bottom. Up I sprang, recovered me Zippo, and found the source of this intrusion was caused by my position over the pig sty. :yuck:
If you think no one would do such a thing------think again.:uhuh:
New shopping techniques abound —

With all of the news stories saying things are going to get really bad over the next two to three weeks, I figured the likelihood of becoming infected was less today than if I waited to go shopping. So, I decided to go shopping today and stock up on enough food and alcohol to last through that period. I was surprised to see a small amount of toilet paper and an even smaller amount of paper towels on the shelves. No disinfectants were to be found.
About 5% of the shoppers were wearing masks and about 30% of those wearing masks were also wearing gloves. I think I will be wearing a mask should I have to venture out again over the next few weeks. Hopefully, there will be no need for that. I think I have plenty of food and booze to last a month, if needed.
Are masks available?
