Well, that's mighty white of him...But I can sympathize somewhat with him since I was a draft-dodger just like him in the same era...We differed in that I enlisted to avoid the draft which I knew was coming for me sooner or later...His way was to enroll in college, and grow bone spurs...I suppose we each have our ways......Ben
His Biden didn't go ether.
I enlisted but was to late for Vietnam, I ended up in jail instead. Hell of a way to get out of serving.:uhuh:
I won the lottery with a very high draft number and ended up becoming a fireman instead
Now THAT'S got to be a good story. I worked in our prison for many years and still miss it (not missing prison, but the wonderful staff I worked with). Maybe, just maybe, jail saved your life. I had several friends that did not come back from Vietnam alive. And, sadly, they were so young. Me - I was too young for Vietnam. But, I always knew I would someday serve in the military. Simply put, it's just what guys in our family were expected to do.

That is some of the most twisted self-serving "logic" I have ever seen.
So now he increases military funding and thinks that makes his yellow bellied moves noble.Quote:
“I thought it was a terrible war,” Trump told Piers Morgan on “Good Morning Britain” on Wednesday. “I thought it was very far away, and at that time nobody ever heard of the country. So many people dying, what is happening over there? So I was never a fan — like we’re fighting against Nazi Germany, we’re fighting against Hitler.”
Guess what trump----I can't remember that any of us were fans :madman::steaming:

From this morning's briefing in the NYT:
Late-night comedy: The hosts skewered President Trump for saying he did not regret deferring his Vietnam War service because it was “far away.” “Yes, that is what is horrible about war — the commute,” Stephen Colbert said.
Yea---I wasn't big on the commute either---that's why I stayed over night :rolleyes2: :march:
My eyes were so bad they sent me to Germany. However most of the group that was split to go to Vietnam or Germany wound up in Germany because Tricky Dick announced a 50,000 man withdrawal in Dec of 69. Sent many to serve in Germany instead of the war.
BTW i was never a fan of the War either.
Second point old Golden Boy doesn't understand is Congress made the Money available.:omfg: Yet stupid wants to build a wall with it.:nono:
That was a few hundred clicks east of where I was at Spangdahlem, but I drove through it once before turning south to Switzerland...That would have been in 1968 when I was a mature 21 year old and wise to the ways of the world...No furriner was going to outsmart me...
But somehow I got back to base broke anyway...Had a good time though......Ben
