I was induced by something I read on the ‘net somewhere to give
Momofuku Chili Crunch a try. It is an 8 oz. jar of 3 different peppers ground up and in oil with shallots, garlic and sesame oil. It looks similar to the hot chili oils you see in Chinese restaurants, but is much different in taste and has a crunchy texture that makes it special. The one I bought is not nearly as firey as it looks, but they also make one with black truffles and one with Habaneros. It’s a bit pricy @$35, but I’m afraid I’ve become addicted to it on oriental dishes. I’ll bet there are many other uses I have not tried yet. If I ate breakfast tacos or spiced up my eggs, I would give it a try on those.
