Checks and balances at it's worse

First comes Nancy pulling a power move to essentially deny the President his traditional State of the Union speech, a ridiculous, petty and childish maneuver only to be met by an equally sophomoric move by the President who denied her access to military aircraft for a planned trip. I am beginning to wonder do any of these folks care about us? Moreover to know that these two are among the most powerful people in our government and they are acting like school yard children. Very disappointed in both of them.

As reprehensible as the two of them are, they are not alone. If our elected officials in Washington really cared about anything but themselves and politics, this would not be happening. Sorry bunch of (*&*^((&^^% :steaming:

Prancy Nancy obviously did not read ALL the Constitution, Article 2, Section 3 on both the State Of The Union address AND the president’s unilateral and summary power to convene Congress at his direction, timing and place for an address for “extraordinary occasions.” Invasion of foreigners by the millions would certainly qualify even if the Constitution did not put such determination solely within the sitting president’s discretion, which it does.

He shall from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union, and recommend to their Consideration such Measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient; he may, on extraordinary Occasions, convene both Houses, or either of them, and in Case of Disagreement between them, with Respect to the Time of Adjournment, he may adjourn them to such Time as he shall think proper;...

If and when Trump chooses to determine the invasion at the border is an emergency, he could well envoke the terms of Article 2, Section 3 “extraordinary occasions” clause, call the Congress to his place of choosing such as the House Chamber, and proceed to announce it in Nancy’s face. I would encourage him to do so.

That would be fun to watch.

I wonder what would happen if Trump called the session and the Democrats didn't come? Would he send out the FBI to bring them in, like the Texas Republicans did back in 2009 when they sent the Texas Rangers to bring the Democrats back? Would the FBI comply with his orders?

That would be even more fun to watch.
