From this morning's WSJ:
Looks like the guys took care of some unfinished business on the way out the door :cool:Quote:
Islamic State Leader Targeted in U.S. Military Raid
The U.S. military targeted the head of Islamic State, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, in a raid in northwestern Syria that U.S. officials said resulted in the death of an individual.
I hope he went out screaming.
That is good news.
Hunter
No worries some other idiot will take up the cause. Then we can play wack-a-mole all over again.
The fruits of a 1400-year hideous religion, and “yes,” as Fred says, there is never a surcease of Mohammedan fanatics dying to take up the cause.
I read that he was "ratted out" by one of his wives, I hope that is the case.
I can't think of anything more appropriate for one of those guys than to be taken out by a woman   :flower:
I was thinking last night about the irony on both sides of this "success". The one I noted above---the other is those men and women of our intel units and military who put this plan together and executed it successfully---kudos to them  Despite trump's best efforts to claim this for himself even the most devoted fan cannot fail to acknowledge that this took place and succeeded without the "guidance and micro management' of trump. The irony is that those same folks who trump continues to demean and deride are the very same professionals that made this happen.
Even some here who are critical of government workers---maybe keeping this (and many others) in mind before going on a tantrum would be appropriate.
I, for one, honor their service:usa::usa::clap::hatoff:
Trump did approve the plan at some political risk should the plan fail, as did Obama with the last Jihadi scumbag. Apparently today’s leading Democrat presidential candidate, Joe Biden, was always opposed of Obama’s approval for political reasons.
I can't say enough to honor these folks---the ones that planned and the ones that executed it---job well done!
From today's WSJ:
Quote:
Although the tunnel caved in on Baghdadi and the three children, troops were able to collect DNA samples which were tested on-site by lab technicians traveling as part of the missions. Some pieces of Baghdadi’s body were “brought back” by U.S. troops, the president said.
A field analysis on the remains in the tunnel provided for a preliminary conclusion that the person who died there was Baghdadi. A conclusive analysis was completed overnight, corroborating that conclusion.
I didn't give Obama the credit when we got Osama (although some here lavished it on him) and I am not going to give Trump the credit for Bag-O-Daddy. I refuse to politicize such a great moment for our country to rid the world of these types of vermin.
Here's one member of the raider team who decidedly deserves credit......Ben

I'm glad we have a fat cat bad guy dead, but I found the whole pop-culture sensationalism somehow distasteful. Seemed like the only thing missing was a pic of the Trump boys posing with the trophy.
This is not a commentary on anyone else's opinion, just an uncomfortable vibe probably all my own.
I do not have any reservation about gloating on the ignominious death of this creature. His memory should be properly reviled and his carcass despoiled. What is left of him should be interred wrapped in pig skin. He earned it in spades.
I get what you're saying. I am glad the soldiers who actually do the dirty work don't gloat. At least not until the wee hours.:usa:
